(19) christmas day

I wake up with a slight hangover that I hadn't quite slept through. I look at my phone and it is 7am but also is December 25th so I get up. I look at the air mattress which is now empty but my bed still has Farkle in it.
I walk to my door and then down the hall to the kitchen.

I see everyone minus Farkle.
"Can you wake your boyfriend up?" Auggie says in a wingy voice.
"Ok," I say to tired to disagree.
I walk back to my room and I kiss him while he is asleep but I know when he kisses back he is awake.
When our lips pull apart I say, "You need to get up."
Farkle gets up and kisses me again then we walk into the living room and sit down by the Christmas tree with everyone else.

"Can I open mine first," Auggie says with excitement.
"Yup, here's the one Santa got you," Mom says happily.
Auggie rips it open to reveal a water gun he had been wanting during summer.
"COOL. I can use this when it's summer again," He says.
"I want to give a present now," I say.
I grabbing the present I got Farkle.
I had gotten him a meaningful gift. It was a key but engraved said 'key to riley eleanor matthews heart'.
Farkle unwrapped a small box and when he opened the box and read the key he didn't say anything but he hugged me.
"I love you Riley Eleanor Matthews," he whispered into my ear while hugging me.
By the time our embrace broke everyone was exchanging gifts and it was my turn to get something.
"Here you go," Farkle says smiling at me.
He hands a small box, even smaller than the box I gave him. It was wrapped in light blue wrapping paper. When I unwrapped it it revealed a ring box. I opened the box and I saw a beautiful ring that had a silver band with a small sapphire in it. The inner part of the lid of the box read,
'we may be young,
our relationship new,
but I can tell,
we will grow old,
and have had aged beautifully,
but we will last,
forevermore.
so here today,
i make a promise,
that together we will be,
together forever and ever. '
"Awh a promise ring," I say looking at the poem.
"Look at the inside of the band," Farkle says.
It was engraved with 'my one and only.'
I kiss Farkle whilst leaning over the presents.

The rest of the day zooms by, we have a roast lunch and a delicious dessert. By the end of the day I was stuffed.

I took all my presents to my room. I got a the ring of course but also a gift card of 100 dollars for H&M from Farkle. I also received like 4 boxes of film for my Polaroid camera from Auggie. Mom and Dad got me and Farkle a gift card to spend on a weekend getaway and also got me a 50 dollar Starbucks gift card and also a set of copic markers. From Maya and Josh I got more copic markers and 150 dollars cash.

When I get back to the kitchen I see mom and dad sat at the table talking to Farkle.
"Riley can you come join us?" Mom asks me.
"Ok," I say as I slide into a seat.
"So I know we already got a weekend getaway but we know the struggles of a college student and thought for some stress relief we can send you on a vacation for the remaining weeks of the holidays," Dad says.
"Oh cool," I say taken by surprise.
"All expenses paid for and you get to go to Bondi Beach area, in Australia," Mom says excitedly.
"Wow, mom I don't think we can afford you know food and clothes and that sorta stuff," I say.
"That's where you grandparents come in they were sad they couldn't visit but they offered money they had been saving for you for your entire lifetime," Mom says smiling.
"It can't be that much," I say.
"20,000. They saved roughly 1000 a year and your almost 20," Dad says.
I make a weird gasping sound and so does Farkle.
"Is that a yes," Mom asks.
Farkle an I nod vigorously.
