Chapter 85: Fatal Blade

"Kira!" Kyoko hugged Kira tightly, "Long time no see!"

He nodded and hugged her back gently, "Good to see you again."

"Wow~ You two are really close aren't you?" Nanami giggled

"Haha, we are childhood friends after all." Kyoko hummed happily, "I honestly thought I'd never see him again after he moved away, but I'm glad we managed to find each other again~"

"I see." Nanami nodded, "Do you feel the same way too, Sumeragi-san?"

"Of course." Kira answered without hesitation

"Man, if Lulu was with us again, it'd be just the three of us like old times." Kyoko laughed at the thought, "You should come over one day, Kira. I bet Lulu would be happy to see you again."

"I'll try to visit when I can."

Nanami looked back and forth at the two of them and smiled, "They really seem like really close friends~ They have a good aura around them~"

"By the way." Kyoko stared up at him, "How's your family been doing? Successful as always I'm assuming?"

Kira had a thoughtful look on his face, "Hmm.... there are things that come and go."

"You know I don't like it when you talk like that." Kyoko pouted, "Just tell me directly."

He let out a soft chuckle, "My parents have been telling me to be in a marriage interview lately."

"M-Marriage??" Kyoko's jaw dropped, "A-Are you ready for something big like that??"

Kira spoke calmly, "Don't worry, I don't plan on marrying yet."

"Thank goodness....." She let out a sigh of comfort, "I don't know what I'd do if I saw you getting married. Honestly, I think I'd be jealous."

"Jealous?" He raised a brow

Kyoko blushed when she realized what she said, "A-Ahh, n-not jealous in the way you're thinking about, but u-umm...."

She tried to find the right words to explain what she meant, but couldn't think of anything on the spot, "It's alright." He patted her head, "I think I can understand."

"Eh?" She looked at him with hope, "Really?"

Seeing him nod, Kyoko breathed out in relief, "Phew, it'd be bad if you misunderstood anything that I meant."

Nanami spoke up softly, "Umm.... would you two like to work on the song now?"

"What?" Kyoko realized that she and Kira were just talking the entire time, "Ah! Sorry Nanami, you must've been bored by our conversation...."

"No no!" Nanami quickly shook her head and smiled, "I enjoyed listening to you two chatting, but I was just worried that we wouldn't have enough time to discuss the song."

"Sorry." KIra apologized, "Let's get started."

The next couple days, Kyoko and Kira enjoyed working together on their song and brainstorming ideas for Nanami to get an idea of what it'd be like. However, that feeling of enjoyment didn't last when Kira had a call back in his hometown from his parents.

"What? You won't be able to come to practice today?" Kyoko frowned slightly, "Why? Did something happen?"

"No." Kira responded, "Just a call from my father."

"Your father....?" Kyoko wondered for a moment, "Is this about your marriage again?"

"Most likely."
