Prologue
"You're really pretty!"
You would think that was directed towards me.
Nope.
As always, I was pushed aside as people gushed about how pretty my twin's curly hair was or how cute she looked in her clothes.
I was the shy twin and it took a lot for me to trust people and make friends. Once I considered you a friend though, you saw a whole different side of me. I was now the nice, kind friend that could talk a person's head off.
Andrea, on the other hand, was a whole different person from me. She was the loud and outspoken twin and might've even been considered mean and obnoxious to some. She was 'going natural', so that attracted even more attention to her.
While I was a sweats and ponytail kind of girl, Andrea was a glitz and glam kind of girl, always dressed to impress. I was more laid back and quiet whereas Andrea was the exact opposite.
Many people didn't even think that we were twins because of our skin tones. I was light-skinned but Andrea was dark-skinned. Or as our best friend, Kailah, would say, one was bright and the other was dark.
Andrea and I were both plus-sized, with me weighing a bit more than Andrea. I wasn't very insecure about my weight and thought I looked okay, knowing I wasn't an ugly girl. Andrea, on the other hand, flaunted her stuff and people always complimented her, basically ignoring me. I had gotten used to it, smiling at the compliments given to my sister, but it still hurt a lot and was even kind of annoying.
You would think we hated each other, but we actually got along great. We both loved each other to death and couldn't imagine our life without the other.
Andrea and I were two entirely different people, but somehow, God had paired such a weird combination as twins. I loved my sister, but I couldn't help but feel that I was invisible whenever she was around.

Andrea and I were packing the rest of my bags into our mama's Trailblazer. This was our second and final trip to SU. Everything we brought during the first trip consisted of a TV, two box fans, a radio, bedding, and a big box of other stuff. Mama and Drea had helped me decorate the room and put sheets on my bed and everything.
"Nah make sho' y'all got everything 'cause I ain't comin' back. I already 'den made one trip," Mama said from the door.
"We got everything, Mama! Come on!" I yelled from the back door before getting inside and shutting the door.
Andrea got in the front seat and we waited for our mama to get inside the car. She locked the house door before walking to the car and hopping into the driver's seat. Mama backed out of the driveway and drove down the road, headed to Southern.
The forty-five minute drive to Southern University didn't take long. Mama parked in the parking lot.
I got out of the car and opened the trunk, grabbing a huge, plastic container of clothes that I had packed the night before. Walking towards my hall building, I couldn't really see anything because of how big the container was. Though I tried to take slow, practiced steps around the swarm of freshmen and parents, I still managed to run into somebody. The container flew to the ground but before I could fall completely, strong arms wrapped around my waist and held me there.
He must be strong as hell 'cause I know my ass ain't small I thought to myself.
I looked up at him and my dark brown eyes connected with his light brown ones.
