Hey! Hope you enjoy this fanfic, thanks for deciding to read it :) there is a bit of story first before the real Sterek stuff just to warn you.
Bing! Stiles' phone bleeped loudly, making him groan. Scott, again. At half eleven in the evening, for f***'s sake. He reluctantly rolled over and read the message on the screen.
Get outside, quick! I'll explain everything
ScottUgh. Midnight trip to who knows where. Wonderful. Stiles crashed out of bed and stumbled across his room, dragging some clothes on and grabbing the keys for his Jeep. If Scott was gonna explain this, there had better be something in it for Stiles. He had spent way too long trailing around after his best friend, helping sort out his werewolf issues. Just one night of uninterrupted sleep, that was all he asked.
Stiles somehow managed to make it out of the house without waking his dad, and as he made his way to his car, he spotted Scott leaning against the door.
"What the hell, Scott!" Stiles whispered loudly. "What reason do you have for me missing another night of sleep?"Scott looked surprised at Stiles' annoyance, but palmed off the question, gesturing for Stiles to get into the car. Once they were both inside, he started to explain.
"We need to go to the school. Derek called me. Someone has a ton of people hostage in the gym, and it sounded like they got him too. We have to go and help." He asked with Stiles with his eyes. "Stiles!"
His friend rolled his eyes, but started the car. "I don't know why I'm even here Scott. I mean in the middle of the night, following you into another problem. You're lucky you've got me." He smirked, pressing down on the pedal and hurtling down the road towards the school.
It only took a few minutes before the battered Jeep pulled up next to the school. Stiles turned. "Okay, Scott, now what? We just charge in with no plan?"
"Yep" Scott replied, earning a scoff of disbelief from Stiles.
"Wonderful" he mumbled, cutting off the gas and climbing out of his car.
The school loomed in the darkness, dramatically different to its daytime appearance. Stiles gulped, thinking of the danger he was just walking into, but followed Scott up to the nearest doors. Derek is in there. He needs help. He's your friend. Stiles repeated it to himself, like a mantra, as the doors creaked open at Scott's touch. Unlocked. Creepy. The two boys crept down the hallway, Stiles noticing how much of a disadvantage he had as his friend used his wolf powers to see in the near-black light. The corridor was eerily quiet, and completely deserted, and Stiles got a terrible feeling. It was like that feeling when you are playing a video game, and you know that if you go a certain way, you are going to get jumped, but it's the only way to get where you need to go. You just expect something to happen every step you take, and you know you couldn't stop anything that does happen...
Stiles caught himself, stopping that train of thought before it got out of control. They had reached the doors to the gym.
Scott peered through the crack in the doors. "It looks like one guy.. there's people tied up on the floor. What's.. that's Derek!" He whispered to Stiles. "They must've found some wolfsbane handcuffs. He's completely stuck."
The two of them slipped through the door and crept along under the bleachers. There was one person in the centre of the gym, standing near the group of hostages. Stiles tensed as a gleam of metal caught his eye.
"He has a freaking gun, Scott!" He felt his heart rate skyrocket.
Scott lightly whacked Stiles' arm with the back of his hand."Dude, calm down. I can go into wolf mode and knock him out, then we can get Derek out and call the cops. It'll be fine. Just stay here."
And suddenly, Stiles was left on his own under the bleachers as Scott headed for the man with the gun. His vantage point, however, let him see the whole scene, and he saw immediately that Scott's plan wouldn't work. He watched in horror as the man began to viciously kick the nearest hostage, which happened to be Derek. Scott, caught by surprise, made a sound which alerted the man to his presence. He wheeled round and aimed his gun at Scott, demanding to know why he was there. Stiles watched Scott falter, unsure of what to say.
Almost unable to control his actions, Stiles dashed out of the cover of the bleachers recklessly, shouting at the guy threatening Scott. He dug in his pockets and threw whatever he found, desperate to save Scott and Derek. The clatter of stationary and food hit the man, making him turn around aggressively, forgetting Scott for the moment.
But now that he had the man's attention, Stiles' adrenaline-based burst faded to fear. There was a guy. With a gun. And it was pointed at him.
