From Here On Out

“Itaaaaaaiiii~~” I yelped in pain against Yuko’s sadistic hands against my cheeks.
“Kawaii~~~” I can feel that shivery, teeth-gritting thrill accompanying a strong urge to do more than pinching as she lay her fingers on my poor cheeks.
“St-stop it… It hurts.” I pleaded but just felt her pinch just getting harder. “Yukooo~~”
“Aaahh~~” her tiny voice squeals ash she released my now reddened cheeks. “Get away from me. I caaaann’t~~” she continued turning her back at me.
“You’re so cruel.” I murmured with my eyes in tears as I give my cheeks a gentle rub. I can feel the coldness of my fingers as soon as I touch them. It really is painful. “It hurts you know. And now you’re telling me to get away. It hurts even more.”
“B-because I can’t help myself.” She reasoned with her back still facing me. “You might get killed with these hands.” She dramatically converses with me while looking at both her hands, giving it a shaky gesture. “And I don’t want that.”
Riding on with the drama she’s having, I come up to her and hugged her from behind. “I’d gladly accept death if it’s with your hands.” I hugged her tighter, leaning my head above her crown. “It’s your face that I want to see last before I die anyway.”
“Really?” her dramatic tone was gone, transforming into a teasing one. “You really do love me after all.”
That again. I pushed her away and turn my back against her. “I hate you.” I can’t help but pout over it. I hate it when she says that. I really do. It feels like there’s something wrong with it every time she says that, and I don’t like the feel of it.
“Oh? You do?” she teased further and faced me. I glared at her. I notice the grin on her face changed into something serious for a second before it relaxed and smiled. “I love you too.”
“You’re lying.” I murmured averting my eyes off her gaze. “You’re toying with me.” I mumbled to silence.
“I’m not.” Her voice was low as she walks towards me. “I’m falling for you. I’m telling the truth.”
“I’ve fallen for you…” I replied unintentionally behind a ball of breath. “…long before today.”
“Eh?” her voice sounds surprised, and I don’t like it. “…f-for real?”
My forehead frowned over it along with a tinge of pain in my chest. “I’ve fallen for you a long time ago, Yuko.”
She was speechless for a moment, makes me wanna slap my head for telling her the truth. What has gotten into me to speak what I promised myself not to? All that engulfs us now is silence, an eerie silence.
“C-can we start over?” she whispered. “Let’s start over.”
So she really was just playing with me all this time. Those gaze, those uplifting words of love and missing me, those touch, and those kiss, it was all just a game after all. I was sighing and shaking my head virtually. I cannot show her how disappointed I was with myself for assuming she’s been serious right from the beginning. I feel stupid, so stupid that if I can jump off a bridge right now, I wouldn’t have second thoughts.
“Nyannyan…” her arms wrapped me into an embrace and rested her head over my chest. “… I love you.”
I can answer nothing but sigh as I try to figure out what to do. “Me too. A lot.”
