A New Beginning

I've uploaded another chapter...but I won't post another chapter until I get at least 10 comments and votes.  I want to know what you think about the story, or give me some feedback on how you feel about any of the characters.  And for those that have read the story and have voted and left comments, I REALLY appreciate you very much.

Chapter 42

Once we got to Colorado and Maume and Alex went out to spend some time together and I told them not to rush home, I changed my mind and told them not to come home tonight.  Kaima and I made plans of our own.

We went to the mall, then the movies, and ate dinner before we went back home.  I stopped by the pharmacy and picked up a pregnancy test.  I decided I would make that doctors appointment as soon as I got back home.

Once we got back home Kaima went to take a shower and I went into Alex’s room in his bathroom, I read the instructions did what the instructions said after I was finished I took it back into my room and waited for the results.

I went to check on Kaima and she was out cold. We did have a lot of fun while we were out.  I woke her up and so she could get under the covers and go back to sleep.  I was about to walk out the door when she grabbed my hand.

“Nikki, can I talk to you?”

“Yes, you know you can talk to me anytime.”

“Well first I want to say thank you for today.  I’m happy we had time to spend together, you’re a lot of fun.”

“Aww thanks baby. I am so glad you enjoyed yourself.  Maybe when we get back home we can have one weekend a month just for us how about it.”

“Really…that’s awesome.”

“I wanted to talk to you about my mom and Alex.”

“Ok, tell me what’s on your mind.”

“Well I am happy that my mom has found someone who really likes her and someone she may be able to have a relationship with.  I love Alex, like he was my dad, but I’m afraid that he will eventually leave my mom and that’s gonna leave her heartbroken.”

I listened to her without interrupting.  She seemed to really be concerned about her mother.

“We come here to see him at least twice a month, but I want to move here and we be a family.  The weekend of the party, I enjoyed being with your family so much that I wished my mom and I could be a part of it. I love your mom and dad.  Your mom told me that I could call Mr. Alex papa and her nannie.”

Tears started to flow down her face.  My heart was breaking for this little girl.  She knows her mother loves her very much, but it’s always been just the two of them since she was born.  I hugged her and rocked her until her tears stopped falling.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to cry, but I was so happy the whole time they were there.  Alex he was awesome, we did so many cool things together and I really like him, but I just don’t want to see my mommy sad.”

“Kaima, I’m almost positive that Alex is not going to hurt your mom. He really cares for her; he may already be falling in love with her. But whatever happens between them, I want to tell you that I don’t think Alex would ever hurt your mother intentionally.  They may have some disagreements, but it’s all a part of being in a relationship, ok?”

“Ok, thank you for listening to me, I didn’t have anyone else to talk to and I didn’t want to say anything to my mom, cause she may get scared and stop seeing Alex.”

“Well sweetie I don’t think you have to worry about that, your mom and Alex are very happy together and we don’t know what is going to happen in the future, we just have to wait and see, ok.”
