A World Divided

Prologue

Sorry for how long this is and I know it's not very detailed/well written but later on it will be, trust me. Please leave a like and comment on any tips for me or if there's any mistakes in here, thank you!

In the future, on an Earth similar to our own, grew a beautifully magnificent tree, the likes at which the world had never seen. People from all corners of the globe came to visit this tree for it was much more than just that. The tree which stood at a gargantuan 1,000 feet was filled with magical energy, now that is what the people came for. Magic was a new concept, something they had never seen before so they went and learned the art of magic. They learned all of its secrets, every last one of them, from a tree sprouted on the earth.
   Not everyone liked this tree though, in fact some people wanted it to be gone.
   As the saying goes 'we fear the unknown' and to them a tree granting people powers and abilities they had never seen before was to be feared. To them what was to stop someone from wreaking havoc with this magic that people were speaking of? These people were the same kind of people who thought logically and liked concrete facts. There was no knowledge on the tree besides that if you dedicated enough time and patience it could make you a wizard! This is how it all began.
   Numerous attempts were made to stop the magic to continue to flow but none were successful. All were stopped by a group of five wizards who became known as The Elemental Guardians, as they had each learned a different type of magic. After this the Elemental Guardians, amongst with other tree followers, banished all none believers to one side of the planet as they stayed on their own.
   The first half of the planet came to be known as Zyton and held everyone who believed the tree's magic to be fake and held science above all else. Even without the use of magic these people flourished and ushered a new age of advancements in technology, medicine, and more. Fairly soon they were in hover cars and had their own robots. Their feelings for the tree did not change as their technology did though. They still hated it and would bring it down at any cost, though they didn't want to take it down anymore because of fear but because of revenge.
   The second half was named Havenlyn which has all the wizards, witches, mages, magicians, and warlock's that ever came to be. They built their capital city of Valwald around the base of their magic source, the tree. Some people even began to treat the tree as a gift from the gods and worship it. As for the Elemental Guardians, they each created their own school for each of their respected elements; light, dark, life, cosmic, and storm.
   Several centuries past and the people of Havenlyn wanted to leave the past behind with the populous of Zyton so they could once again be reunited. After much debate both sides agreed to have one of their people marry the other. Surprisingly enough it was revealed that the light guardian and a leading scientist had been secretly seeing each other so naturally they were the ones chosen to get married. Once they did they had a child named Calvin, who would be the first and last child from two people on both sides of the planet.
The wedding between the two was in Valwald, Heavenlyn. Before the wedding could even begin there was a full fledged assault on Havenlyn's most treasured item, the tree. The Wizards were able to push the soldiers of Zyton back far enough from the tree so that nothing serious could be done to it but not before it took some damage, harming the strength of magic forever. From then on the war between the two countries has raged on, total destruction of the other side seeming to be the only answer.
