Finally, school is out. I called mom and asked if I could ride home with Ryan, and since she said yes, well, we are gonna ride the scenic route home. This little tour includes a wonderful ride by the McDonald's drive-thru (we didn't forget our souvenirs), a trip across town for a view of the median trees (which are all almost dead. It's not very scenic), and of course we didn't take the back roads home just to make the trip longer. We took them to get mud all over his pickup.

About a mile up the road from where I live, Ryan pulls over on a side trail. My dad owns a bunch of land that he and his buddies go hunting on, so this is perfectly legal. He drives up a little ways and stops the engine. I'm a bit confused, to be honest. We've never done this before.

"Babe?"

"Yeah?"

"Why are we stopping?"

"It's a secret. Lean over and I'll tell you."

I'm thoroughly puzzled at this point. Why would I need to- oooh, wait a second.

I lean over slowly, just to tease him. That didn't work. He just grabbed me and pulled me closer... and we lock lips. My stomach is on fire... the embers my dreams extinguished, the past stifled, and life itself blew out, suddenly reignite, into a fire that is raging, and it burns. It burns in a good way. Our kiss becomes more passionate, we are hungry for each other, and I start messing through his hair with my hand. Dear God, don't let this end. Let this go on forever.. I don't want this fire to go out....

We must have kissed for a good ten minutes.... I've never felt that way before. After he dropped me off at my place, I walked inside and could not stop grinning to save my life. Mom was too happy, seeing me smile again, to ask why. Anyway, now I'm in my room doing math homework (can't let Anna do too much on her own!) and let me tell you now, I detest geometry. I hate any form of math where the alphabet invades. Stick to English, how about that? Oh well. May as well just get it done and over with.

Okay, who the hell is calling me? I'm doing homework over here! Of course. Telemarketer. I clear my throat, and pull out an old family favorite.

"Hello, Hempstead County Police Department, how may I help you?"

Silence. I hold back a laugh, as I hear the lady on the other end call her boss over. It's always funny waiting for the reaction.

"I'm sorry, who did you say you were?"

"This is the police department, ma'am. Is there a report you need to file or...?"

"I'm sorry, uh, there's been a mistake. Um. Have a good day."

Before I can say 'you too' she hangs up. I let the laughs come out now. I may be the only one finding this funny, but who cares, I haven't laughed this hard since last year. I'm starting to wonder if after all these years, I'll get my fire back. I used to think it was gone forever... I mean, I even tried to do things to fan the flame. Nothing ever seemed to work... until today. When he kissed me. I know its cliché, but he made me feel... wanted. He always calls me his queen, and I call him my king. He refuses to call me a princess because to him I'm much more than that. And he has no idea how much love I hold for him. No idea whatsoever.
