Tying up loose ends

              -Baker-

I look at Sheila as we cruise past the outskirts of the city. I gotta give it to her, she certainly has the intensity. I've only worked with her on a few cases. But I've learned one thing from her. She never backs off a case. Until she came to this one.

I pull out my gun and hold it against her neck. "Don't stop. Drive." I say, keeping my finger curled on the trigger. Her eyes grow wide. I see the sign for Reptile's lake coming up. I crack my neck. She smirks.

"Why are you doing this?" She asks. She eyes my gun and I press it into her neck hard.

"Eyes on the road, bitch. Now. Why am I doing it? For the money, why the fuck else. Now I'm gonna go ahead and break this to you. You were right. Georgia is alive. Good luck trying to explain that to the rest of the League. She approached me for help with finding her book, the Alcatron. It was her grandmother's originally. She offered me a good sized price. An offer I couldn't refuse, you might say."

"You going Scarface on me," she says.

I backhand her and she growls. "Listen bitch. Anyway I used the past files to locate the book for her. I gave her the location. We tracked down the wife and kids yesterday and, well you heard what happened next. Anyway she sent me to kill that damn husband today and to take the book. That's what I'm going to do after I kill you."

I see the glistening waters of the lake coming up.

"How much? How much she paying you?" She asks. Looking at me with an emotion on her face. What amazes me is that it isn't fear. Even after I just announced to kill her.

I chuckle. "Doesn't matter now does it. What matters is that she's paying me enough to kill you. And I'm not the only corrupt agent on the case. Now, its time we say goodbye agent. I just want you to know it's been fun outsmarting you."

She smirks, as we near the cleared patch of land equaling the lake. "Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. Goodbye Baker," She says as she veers the wheel sharp right and we hit a bump in the road and go airborne. I raise my gun, and she headbutts me.

"Shit!!!!!!!!!!!" I yell, as the gun fumbles from my grip. My ears pop as the car makes the horrifying crash into the lake. I grasp for my seatbelt as the car sinks like a rock. Sheila kicks me in the gut and I bend over for breath.

She kicks out of her seatbelt as I grab a knife. As soon as I thrust it towards her neck she uses her elbow to break her window and the water pools into my face, and I lose the knife. She climbs out of her window just as the car flips over onto the drivers side. My windows the only way out. I grapple with my seatbelt feeling the air leaving me.

I manage to yank it free. I reach for the door handle too tired to smash the window. I smirk at Sheila, letting her know that it's over. She smirks back as she holds something in front of the window. My smile fades as I hear the doors click. "Nooo!!! Noo!!!!!" I yell, water bubbles escaping my lips. I bang on the door. There are no other locks inside to unlock the door by hand. I bang on the door. "You goddamned bitch!!!!! I was supposed to win. Mee!!!!!!!! Nononononono!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!" I yell as in one brief moment my lungs explode with water. I lash out with my last breath as I stare up into Sheila's eyes.

         -Sheila-

I grin, as I stare at Baker. He died with his eyes open. Those cold gray eyes staring at me, as if staring into my soul. I swim towards the surface, and take deep breaths. I wanted to tell him about my child proof locks, as he drowned. I actually installed them last year when I was babysitting Marcus Pot. His mother is actually one of my clients. Best paying ones and over the years I've become good friends with her, him, and his sister.

Baker was a cold son of a bitch. I've worked with him before. He used to be an honorary agent. In fact he was one of the best, privately trained in all the martial arts, his favorite being Aikido. Any ways I need to hurry to this guy's house. He could be in danger. Plus, I need a phone. Mines at the bottom of the lake right now.
