         -Derek-

We sit in the movie room watching some boring movie which I'd dozed off on at the very beginning. Finally it's over. I climb up from my chair and we walk out and into the main room of the suite.

Jacob went to do something a while ago. Being honest, I don't really trust him around the book. So I make sure to keep an eye on him. Jewel's phone rings. She answers it and we brace ourselves for another vampires encounter.

But she smiles. "Hey, Ms. Knight. Yes. Yes, we're okay. We escaped. We're at X-corp. Yes. No he went out a while ago. Yes. Okay, we'll be waiting. Okay, bye." She hangs up. "Detective Knight is on her way over. She wanted to make sure we were okay."

We wait for about thirty minutes, doing nothing really. I look at the book. I've been tempted to look inside for a while now. But I've been a little skeptical as well. Who knows what lies inside. Curiosity gets the best of me. I flip the book open. The first page says, "Dedicated to my lovable daughter Anna, and my sweet grand baby, Georgia."

As I turn to page one, something comes over me. I feel as if I'm in a trance. I begin to laugh as I prepare to cast a spell to kill my friends. Suddenly, Jewel slams the book shut and whatever was there, goes away. I shake my head. "Something happened to me." I say.

"That book is evil," Jewel says, looking at it strange. "Plus, Ms. Knight is on her way up. I just buzzed her in. She has some guy with her. Kinda cute, I guess."

I put my head in my hands. I didn't hear the buzzer at all. Geez. Finally the door opens and the detective steps in. Sure enough there's this guy with blonde hair right behind her. He runs his hand through his hair. He nods his head at us.

They shut the door. Sheila looks around. "Jacob isn't back yet. Gosh."

"I'm right here," comes a voice from behind them. Jacob steps through the door. "Hello Sheila. And hi Andrew."

Andrew does a double take. "How do you know my name?" He asks. He has an English accent.

"I know lots of things." Jacob says, grinning. He walks in his lab and puts some bags down.

"Get used to it kid," Jewel says. "He's always one step ahead of you and knows what you're gonna say before you even say it."

"Mr. Jacob. Did you find Leo?" Marcus asks, worried.

     Sheila narrows her eyes. "Leo?"

Andrew frowns. "You mean, as in Leo Typhus?"

I nod. "Yeah, you know him?" Jewel asks.

"Let's just say. We have a bad, bad, history," Andrew says, hitting his fist into his open palm.

"I thought Leo was dead?" Sheila says.

"He was. But he came back as an arch demon and he has all kind of cool powers and stuff now. He stayed back at the house to fight the leader of the pack of vamps, and buy us time to escape. We haven't heard from him yet. I hope he's okay. The little annoying brat has kinda grown on me," I say.

Andrew smirks. "I hope the vampire tore the little bitch apart."

I stand up. "Excuse me, mate. But did you both hear the part where he stayed back to save our lives."

He scowls at me. "Yeah, I j-"

Jacob walks in and silences us. There's a lot of tension in the room. He must can feel it. He sits down on a sofa across the room.

Sheila clears her throat. "Anyway, I found this." She pulls out a syringe and needle. "When the vampires were changing into the big red super vampires, one of them injected himself with this and he didn't change. I wanted to see if you could analyze it Jacob."

He takes the needle and syringe and holds it up in the light. "Interesting. Must be full on Magnatosium, I wonder how it still manages to produce a hormone level of 300 grams. I'll have to study it. Okay, I'll be off then," he says headed to his lab."

Marcus looks around. "Okay, I don't wanna sound stupid. But, uh. Did anyone understand what he just said?"

"No," we all say in unison.
