My sister hid behind me slightly.
"We've got ourselves a couple of hybrids here!" He said with a laugh.
I glared at him. He suddenly stopped,
"Where are my manners?" he asked no one in particular, "My name is Louis, and you are?" He asked as he bowed.
"Topaz, and this is my sister Zara," I said monotonously.
"My, my, she was right," Louis said as he stepped closer to me, standing on his tip toes to look me in the eyes,
"You are a cute one aren't you?" He smiled wider.
My feathers stood on edge and I growled slightly.
"Leave my sister alone!" Zara exclaimed. Louis looked at her as if he'd only just noticed she was there.
"I'm not going to hurt your sister, dearie, I'm just...curious, is all."
He patted her on the head and she swatted at his hand.
He chuckled slightly, "If you need anything, just holler."
He then disappeared in a puff of red smoke.
"Well he was creepy," Zara said.
"Ssh!" I snapped.
She looked down and mumbled an apology. We kept walking for a couple more minutes until we heard a thumping sound.
We stopped. It kept getting louder and louder, until whatever was making that noise rounded the corner.
It was a little girl. She looked to be no more than eight years old. She had on a light purple dress with her brown hair in a low ponytail and a flower crown made of daisies perched on her head.
The thumping was her shoes. They looked to be made of some sort of metal. They were very bulky, and had multiple latches on them.
She spotted us and waved, "Hi!" She said cheerfully.
I nodded my head towards her, "Hello."
"My name's Alice!" She said as she began clanking her way over to us.
I decided it would be easier if we went to her and began walking towards her. I kneeled down so I was even with her head.
"I'm Topaz, and this is my sister Zara," I said, smiling warmly.
Alice looked in awe at our wings,
"You can fly?!" She exclaimed.
"Yeah! Can you?" Zara asked.
"No, I can't. I just wear these—" she lifts one of her giant shoes up—"so people can find me."
She smiles sweetly at us.
"Who're you talking to, Al?" A voice said.
I straightened up as Brandy came around the corner.
"Oh! It's you guys!" Brandy said once she saw us.
I nodded, "Hello again."
She smiled and tilted her head down slightly. Was she...blushing?!
She cleared her throat, "I see you've met Alice."
"Yeah! She can fly just like us!" Zara exclaimed.
Brandy chuckled, "C'mon, Alice, we need to keep going if you want to have first dibs on cookies."
"Cookies?!" Zara asked, her eyes practically lit up at the idea.
"Yeah, Foster is making cookies for everyone, but they go quickly. We're headed over to the kitchen so Alice can have first pick. You can come if you'd like," Brandy said.
"Can we Topaz, pleeeeeeease??" Zara begged as she latched onto my leg.
I sighed and smirked, pretending to consider it, "I don't know..." m
"Please?" She asked again.
"Please, Miss Topaz?" Alice pleaded.
I looked at both of them, "Of course we can! We haven't had cookies in Gods know how long! To the kitchen!!" I exclaimed.
Zara and Alice gave some "horrays" and we all began to go to the kitchen.
Brandy and I took up the front while Alice and Zara talked in the back.A/N
