It was said that after you met your soulmate, you would see in full color. After you met your soulmate, there would also be a small mark on your wrist, usually related to your soulmate. Until that happened, you would only see grey. Soulmates were supposed to be eternal, something that lead to eternal happiness of some sort.

As Shin thought back to the past five years, he held back a bitter laugh. If someone had told him what would happen with his supposed soulmate, Yeo Junghwan, he might have not gone to that particular bookstore that day. But then again, since Junghwan was meant to be his soulmate, it probably wouldn't have mattered if he had avoided the bookstore. It was still possible that he might've found Junghwan somewhere else. The incessant buzzing of his phone yanked Shin out of his thoughts about Junghwan, most likely a request from Yongseok to get more groceries.

Instead of replying, Shin placed the phone back into his pocket. As he reached his destination, a small park, he wondered why he liked coming to the park—especially since it was one of the places where he had frequently gone to with Junghwan, and it was a general rule that most of the memories with him were unpleasant. Shin wanted to forget, he really did. He wanted to forget the screams and crashes, and he had already accepted the events that happened afterwards. What he did know, however, was that the experience had tainted the concepts of soulmates and love for him. A smile formed on his lips as he remembered the words his mother had told him, long before he had even met Junghwan or known of Junghwan's existence.

You never forget the person that makes you see the reds and blues of the world for the first time.

"You also don't forget the person that drags you down and brings the shades of grey back," Shin finally murmued.
