“Did you find a phone here last night” I franticly asked my bus driver when he picked me up this morning.
“No sorry” he replied as if he couldn’t care less.
Great, I took my usual seat by the window in the back and put in my ear buds.
I cranked my music so I wouldn’t have to hear the agonizing squeal of the buses brakes. I started to drift off with the music echoing through my brain.
“Jules wake up” my friend Sammy was rocking me awake. She was not familiar with being subtle.
“Sorry, sorry” I said rubbing my eyes and probably destroying my eye makeup.
“Rough night,” She asks now concerned. She knew my parents were fighting and there was a lot of tension in my house right now.
“No I just lost my cell phone I thought I left it here last night but-“ that’s when I was cut off.
“Is this it” asks a boy about my age who I had never seen before. His arm extended in my direction with, of course, my phone in his hand.
He had the most amazing smile I had ever seen before.
But who was this mystery boy?
Just then there was a defining sound and the bus was on its side.
