'Beep, beep, beep'
Why do alarm clocks have to exist? Is there really any point?
I swing my legs over the side of the bed and head towards the bathroom to take a shower. Today is the first day of school and I need to look good.

I'm going to introduce myself: I'm Leisa O'Conall, also known as you. I'm the basketball and volleyball captain and the second most popular girl in the senior year.
I don't like the popularity, it just came with being captain of two of the most popular sports for girls in our school.

Everyone wants me to be with the most popular guy in the senior year, Davin Fortoff. Do you wanna know what I say to that? "Fuck you all!" If you couldn't tell, I don't like Davin one bit.
He's a jerk and he thinks girls are 'items' rather than living beings.

To put it simply he's a materialistic person. He thinks he 'rules the school'. Hell no, that's his girlfriend, Arey Sader. She's the 'queen bee', as they call her. She is actually very nice, pretty, and smart. She is also known as my best friend.

Enough with introductions, back to the story.

I got out of the shower. I looked at the clock, it said 6:00am. I'm a little ahead of schedule so I decided I'd straighten my hair and put on a little makeup.

I got done getting dressed and putting on makeup. I decided I was going to walk today so I gave Arey a call to let her know she didn't need to pick me up anymore.

I ran down the stairs and grabbed an apple.
"Bye dad!" I half yelled. "Wait, come here real quick, I need to ask you a favor." He said from his office.

"You should know how to tie a tie by now dad." I said with a small chuckle and an eye roll. "I don't need help tying my tie, thank you very much." Wow, sassy. "But we have new neighbors and I already met them. They have a son your age and I said you'd walk with him to school." Great, just great.

"But I'm going to be late." I whined. He gave me the 'I'm your dad, do as I say before I ground you' look. "Fine." I sighed.

I walked over to the newly sold house and knocked on the door. Once. Twice. Three times.

"Coming." Said a woman's voice from what I'm guessing is the kitchen. A short woman, about a foot shorter than me, emerged in the doorway. "Oh, you must be Leisa!" She exclaimed.

"Yes I am. I heard I was supposed to walk with your son to school?" I half-heartedly asked. "Oh, right. Cole! Get your ass down here." She yelled up the stairs. I couldn't help but choke back a few giggles.

"He's probably in his bedroom blaring his music again. Would you mind going up there and grabbing him for me?" She asked. I nodded my head yes and walked towards the stairs.

"Third door on the right." She called after me.

She was right. There was some music playing...quite loudly actually. I could make out a few words. He was listening to Blink182. I honestly thought I was the only one my age who listened to Blink182.

I walked into his room and over to the speaker, turning it off completely. "I know Blink182 is awesome but we need to get our butts to school because I'm apparently supposed to walk you there." I huffed.
Only to turn around and come chest-to-chest with one of the most interesting looking teenage boys I've ever seen.

All he did was nod and put in earbuds. He won't have those for long, not when he's walking with me he won't.

We stepped foot outside only to be greeted by a chilly fall breeze. I shivered and unzipped my backpack to grab my letterman jacket. I put it on and looked over to see Cole's gaze fixated on my jacket.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Something wrong?" I asked. He bit his lip to hold back a chuckle. "Didn't expect Miss Perfect to be a jock is all." He retorted. You know, that actually stung. Why am I letting this boy get under my skin? It's annoying!

"You know, I'm nowhere near perfect and I'll admit it." I spoke the truth. I don't know if it's and advantage or a downfall but I always speak my mind.

"Wow. Uncle It is humble." What did I ever do to this kid? Honestly? Fine, two can play at that game. "Roses are red violets are blue, I have five fingers, the third one's for you." I mumbled.

I looked over at this Cole guy and he was still wearing his earbuds. "Thank you very much." I said unplugging them and putting them in my backpack. Instantly my favorite Blink182 song filled the silence.

"With all of this I know now everything inside my head, it all goes just to show how nothing I know changes me at all, again I waited for this to change instead, to tear the world in two, another night with her but I'm always wanting you." I hummed along as the song played.

Once the song was over he turned off his iPod.

"Tell me a little more about yourself. All I know is that your name is Cole." I gestured for him to say something, anything.

We entered the school building as he began to talk. "My full name is Cole Lleyton Reverick. Umm, I like Blink182, think you already knew that. People are starting to stare at us. Why are people staring at us?" I waved him off.

"I'm apparently not supposed to socialize with certain people. And you're apparently on the top of their list at the moment. Just ignore them, it's a bunch of bull shit." I said.

"Ooo. Miss Perfect swears." This guy is really getting on my nerves.

"Don't call me Miss Perfect." I shuddered. "Or what?" He challenged. "Do you want me to leave you to the raptors-I could do that you know." I said pointing to the angry jocks.

He furiously shook his head 'no'. "Good." I turned around and flicked them off. "Wanted to do that since I walked in here." I breathed.

The rest of the school day went by pretty quick.

It was ten minutes before sixth period and I went to go roam the halls since I had nothing better to do. A lot of kids do this so it's kind of a socializing period. I noticed Cole and I waved in his direction. He took one look at me and looked away. Those stupid headphones were in his ears again.

I followed after him and grabbed him by the back of the collar and dragged him to the empty hallway around the corner. I leaned against the wall. "Why're you avoiding me?" I asked.

"I'm not avoiding you." He did that weird hand and neck guy thing. "Why're you avoiding me?" I asked again.

"I'm not avoid-"
"Are too"
"Are not"
"Are too"
"Are too"
"Reverse psychology doesn't work on me"

"Fine, I am avoiding you." He admitted.
"Why?" I pried.
"I don't want to ruin your little reputation." He whispered. I looked both ways before grabbing him by the shoulder and shoving him inside an abandoned janitor's closet. I followed close behind and closed the door.

"Why'd you have to drag me into a stupid janitor's closet?" He whined. I just realized that if we moved, even an inch, that we'd practically be kissing. Wow, I'm glad there isn't much light otherwise he'd call me out for blushing.

"So I can talk without having to be worried about being eavesdropped on." I stated. "Now where were we? I DO NOT CARE ABOUT MY 'LITTLE REPUTATION' FOR THE LAST TIME." I screamed in his face.

I realized that I'd gotten caught up in the moment and had my hand on his chest while I was screaming at him. Queue another blush.

He pressed up against me and I realized I'd backed into the wall. I gulped as I stared into his eyes. He leaned in to kiss me. I shoved him back and ran out of the closet.
