Chapter 17:
What? WE?! US!? WERE GOING TO PRISON?!
The cops step up. I look at Mitch. He slips a tear down his face. I hold his hand as tight as I can.
"Ms. Lore, please follow us." One of the cops say, trying to pull me away.
"No! Please!" I say, holding onto Mitch.
He stands up and I hug him, wrapping my hands tight around his waist.
"Ms. Lore, you need to leave." They say again.
"NO!" I yell.
The judge slams his gavel. I look at him. His face is serious.
"I.. I'm.. sorry. I just.." I start to say.
"Ms. Lore, I understand. Please, take your time." The judge says
"Thank you." I say.
I hug Mitch again. He wraps his arms around my neck.
"I'm so sorry, Mitch." I start to cry.
"Baby girl, please don't cry." Mitch says, starting to cry as well.
"I.. I don't believe this." I whisper.
"Baby, listen to me. I'll be here the whole way. I love you." He says, tears flowing down his face.
"I love you too, Mitch." I say.
"Everything, is gonna be alright." He sings.
I lightly chuckle.
"I'll miss you." I say.
I give him a long soft kiss. Our tears collide together. When we pull away, he wipes them from my face.
I walk over to the rest of the group. They stand for a long group hug.
"Are they going to finish? The jail cell awaits!" Liz yells.
"Ms. Hills, please sit down." The judge says.
"I'm going to miss you guys." I say.
I pull away from everyone. I look at Sadie and link hands with her.
"We're ready, your honour." Sadie says.
The judge calls the officers over. They whisper quietly. Suddenly, the cops walk behind us and the judge looks at us.
"Perhaps, I can consider giving you another chance. Your loyalty and respect shows that you would not do anything to harm anyone on purpose. Therefore, Ms. Lore and Ms. Lourie, you are not guilty. Case dismissed." The judge says, smacking his gavel.
I look at Sadie, both our eyes light up. I'm in shock.
Mitch jumps up and hugs me. I slowly hug him back.
"Thank you, your honour." Mitch says.
"NO! THIS IS WRONG!" Tyler yells.
They stomp out. Everyone joins in for a group hug. This is unbelievable. I look up at the ceiling. I hope mom is proud.
