Prologue
Before you start reading I'm going to ask you to have an open mind. To not judge my story before it even starts. My names Jade and this is the story of my fucked up life. When I was a little girl I grew up living with my grandparents in a little town in Illinois. There wasn't much there no more than a school, a church and a post office.
The school in town was small and the classes only consisted of six or seven students. Most of the other kids thought I was a strange girl, mainly because I wasn't like a normal girl. I hated the sun, dolls, any bright color and mostly children's books. I started reading books by Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King when I was still in first grade. It worried my Grandmother for she thought I would grow up to be a devil child like my mother.
Oh I haven't mentioned why I live with my grandparents have I? Well when I was born my mom decided I was too much for her and she thought I was the worst thing that happened to her so she left me with my grandparents and ran off. Not much of a mystery where my Father is in all honesty. He is in jail not going to go into detail about that whole ordeal. As I grew up my differences started to scare the other children.
They began to avoid me and resent me only because I was different than them. I didn't understand why they didn't like me I tried to be friends with them but they would just turn away from me or call me names. I didn't really know how to react to their actions I was confused and sad for I just wanted friends. For years I was alone apart from my Grandpa. He always loved me no matter what I did or said he would always smile at me and just listen to me.
When I turned 13 a couple months after so my grandpa passed away. I was there with him as he passed and when he left he took the only thing left in the world that I loved with him. I went on for three years not speaking and choosing not to feel or even try to show that I tried. The day I turned 16 was the last day I saw my grandmother and her hateful stare. I didn't know it but on that day my life would change exponentially for the better.
I had just woken up that fateful day when I felt something different in the air and in myself, I couldn't quite place what it was but it was there. I sat up on my bed shoving my cover of myself. It was then that I noticed something strange. My hair which used to be a dark mud color and cut close to my head was now silver and spilling past my waste. I was shocked and confused and quite frankly terrified. I screamed for my Grandmother.
She came running into the room yelling about how I had awoken her from her sleep. She stopped midsentence and just looked at me. Too many emotions crossed her features for me to take in. She was silent for I haven't any idea how long until she became enraged. She turned her eyes to mine and seethed the words "GET OUT". I looked upon her with confusion and fear not understanding what she meant.
When she noticed id hadn't moved she grabbed my arm in a grip that could rival a pythons hold and yanked me from the bed. She pulled me down the stairs to the front door of our little town house. Se shoved me from the doors and told me to leave and never return. Called me every name under the sun and screamed before turning and locking the door. I stood there for an hour then two just numb to the world around me. When I finally realized what had happened tears rolled down my cheeks lie a waterfall.
I made no sound as I turned and fled into the woods. I ran and ran farther and farther away from the town. I went deeper and deeper into the dense woods not running to a certain place for I had nowhere to run to. Eventually I had to stop. I had no idea where I was or how I would survive. I sat down on the forest floor and just thought of the day's events.
It was silent the woods seemed to sense my need for silence. Then I felt something tingle through my body something strange yet comforting. I heard a voice call my name. I looked around for a while before I came to the realization that I had heard it in my head. I spoke into my mind in a weak trembling voice saying hello. The reply came almost immediately a woman's voice introduced herself as Lethena stating that she would help me understand what was happening.
I listened to her tell me things I never would have believed she showed me things that frightened me and exhilarated me. She told me for the reason for my changes. She told me who and what I was. I was a Witch and I had come into my powers two years earlier than I was supposed to. The woman whom I was speaking with was a high rank Witch from a coven within the lands of Canada. She told me that she and other of my kind were coming together to build a portal to me to bring me to them.
I was silent I didn't know what to say I was scared and confused I thought I was losing my mind. Lethena went silent in my mind letting me take in all she had told me. I don't know how long I sat there thinking and going over the things I had learned that day. I felt a change in the air that last no longer than a second something that made the hair on the back of my neck stand upright. I felt no fear just calm and tranquility.
In front of my eyes a portal opened and a woman with hair as vibrant as the grass I was sitting on stepped through. She smiled at me and told me that she was Lethena and that she and the others were waiting for me. I stood on legs as wobbly as a newborn deer's and cautiously approached the strange woman and the portal in which she came through. She looked down at me and held out a hand and asked if I was ready. I took a deep breath and grabbed her outstretched hand and nodded. She smiled and pulled me through the portal.
