I was leaving today. I had to. It was a week. And I had to get back with my family. I wish I didn't though. Before breakfast, I packed everything. I didn't leave anything in Damon's room, which I was glad. Last night sobbing would have been worse if I now had to have a awkward run in with Damon. When everything was packed, I took a fast shower. I slipped into jeans and a tank top. I walked downstairs. Everyone was there. Breakfast was light and fast. We had to leave afterwords. I had my bags already in the grand parlor just waiting to be packed in the car. Light conversation happened. Afterwords we said our goodbyes. Damon wasn't coming with us because he couldn't spend time outside of the capital anymore.
"I'm going to miss you." Jeremy said and hugged me.
"I"ll miss you too."
"Girl, you have my number, snap chat, intragram, so keep in touch!" Holly said, with a bone crushing hug.
"You too!"
"Call me for makeup tips, you kinda need them."
"Thanks, Holly." She smiled at me.
"You need to call me for fashion tips!" Caroline said with a light hug.
"You girls, think I can't take care of myself!" They gave me a look. "I was decent." Another look. "Fine! I need you girls." They both smiled.
"Bye, Victoria." Johnny said.
"Bye, Johnny. Try not to miss my sister too much." He frowned at me. Little kids.
"Bye." Paige said.
"Bye, kiddo."
"You need anything, you call. Okay?" Julian said.
"Of course, thank you for the journal and taking me out."
"You are very welcome." She hugged me.
"Thank for your day out too." I said to Michael. He smiled and hugged me.
Lastly it was Damon. I smiled at him.
"Thanks for everything."
"You're welcome." We hugged. It was awkward. And it felt too much like a goodbye. I gave him a sad smile and everyone was already ready so we left. Dad came with us. I don't know what story we were going to say. And Michael still had them looking in to Mark and Rachel.
I put my bags in Jenny's car. We were off. And I couldn't help but I think I left behind a bit of myself with Damon.
During the trip, I read the books I brought with me. I read them and cut myself off from the world. That's what I was good at. Always have been.
We had lunch on the road. When we got home, I went upstairs to finish my book. I called Deanna.
"Hey girl. How was the capital? Spend a lot of time with your boyfriend?" She answered. That broke it.
"Deanna. I lost him. I really lost him." I sobbed in to the phone.
"I'm coming over." I just to nod but realized that she couldn't see me.
I waited ten minutes till I heard Deanna come in. Dad and Jenny didn't really care. She opened my door. She saw the mess I was and wrapped me in her arms.
"What happened?"
"I don't know. All I know is he is mad at me and wouldn't talk to me."
"I see. C'mon girl. Let it out."
She let me sob in her arms. Then after that we had a girls night. She really cheered me up. I missed my best friend. I would be lost without her.
Weeks passed by. No calls. Nothing. At first, everyone of us just said he might be busy. No big deal. After a while, they realized my mood. Bailey didn't know how to take it. I knew getting her involved would do this. But I took Jenny's advice. Deanna come over all the time, even to work with me. Natalie added hours to keep me busy. I dissolved deeper into my books. Escaping was my solution to Damon. That's when the headlines picked up on Damon. Apparently he went into parities, clubs, picking up girls. They didn't know what happened to me. They made wild stories, like Bailey wasn't well enough to have me date Damon, Rachel got between us, or Damon got tired of being the good guy and went into his wild strike. All were lies. Everyone seemed to be walking on eggshells around me. It was ridiculous.
