I stared at the barrel of her gun as I fell to my knees.
'You don't have to do this'
Tears stung her eyes. She breathed deeply, aiming the pistol at my skull.
'I wish that were true'
'Please, this isn't you angel! Their controlling you, magnifying your fears and transforming you into a weapon. But it's all a lie. I would never hurt you.' Tears threatened to spill as I painfully watched my Bestfriend load the gun.
'I-I I'm sorry Caleb but it's just too late. I can never forgive you for this. I don't want to do this but you leave me no choice.'
Time seemed to slow down as my ears detected the gun fire. My heart dropped as I watched the bullet near. This wasn't supposed to happen I thought and found myself murmuring her name as the rest of me frozen in place. The bullet pierced her chest and Angel gasped in shock, before gently sinking to the ground, gun slipping out of her grasp and clattering to a halt between us.
The last thing I remember my mind processing before I saw red was my partner Isaac running up to us, his FBI jacket rustling as he sprinted. Anger coursed through my veins, and I found myself hating him immensely. Just as he reached her body, most likely to check her pulse to confirm the kill, I swung my first, landing square in his jaw.
'You fucking idiot,' I screamed. Isaac barely had any time to recover before I swung again tearing up the right side of his face.
'I loved her and you fucking shot her!' Two, three more punched before he finally deflected my hits and attempted to reason with me,
'She was going to shoot you, I saved your life you asshole! That wasn't Angel, they changed her just the way they change everyone. Face it man, she was gone long before I pulled the trigger.
Deep down, a part of me knew this was true. Angel was taken nine months ago, they had broken her all for their own cruel, pathetic, enjoyment.
But rage consumed any logic and reason I had and I found myself denying it all.'Angel wasn't gone, I could have reasoned with her, explained the truth, she could have forgiven me!'
Isaac should his head, sympathy and regret reflecting in his eyes.
'I'm sorry Caleb, she was my friend too. That's why I know she could never be the same again, she's too different. They messed with her head, convinced her we were the monsters. Revenge and anger consumed her, just like it's consuming you know. So please stop, it's over man. The worlds a safer place now that she's gone.'
I forced a slow, deep breath, and released my clenched fists. Turning my head, I captured her beautiful, delicate face. Strawberry blonde hair cascaded in long, lazy waves down her shoulders and back. Green eyes complimented her fair skin, which started back lifelessly at me, and her red lips began to pale.
'Your right,' I started, shifting back towards Isaac. 'The world is a safer place now that she's gone.'
As fast as I could I picked up the discarded gun and shot my partner of three years without any trace of hesitation. My love for Angel blinded me from the truth and I was twistedly okay with it.
'Good thing I never gave a damn about the world anyways.'
Then I simply picked up my fallen angel and began to walk away from the crime scene.
I was going to save Angel. She couldn't die, I wouldn't let her, and then she would forgive me, once and for all.
