I sat at my desk writing my latest freelance article for the New York Times. Logan had finally taken over as head of the Huntzberger Publishing Group and him and his Dad were getting better at their father/son relationship.
Knock...knock...knock.
I got up from where I was working. Sandra was sitting on the couch reading Doctor Doolittle while some random program played on the TV in the background. She was just like me, reading above her grade level.
I opened the door to see a UPS man standing outside, "I have a package for Mrs. Lorelai Huntzberger." He said.
"Yes that's me." I replied.
"If I could just have you sign." He said handing me the small computerized pad to sign. I handed it back to him and then he handed me a thick white mailing envelope. I thanked him and closed the door walking back into the main living area.
"What's that mommy?" Sandra asked.
"I'm not sure honey. I haven't opened it." I replied just as Logan walked into the room.
"Who was that?" He said walking out.
"UPS guy." I replied. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah he just didn't want to go to sleep." He said, our son in his arms.
"That's okay." I said, looking at them.
"Well Ace, ya gonna open it?" He asked with a chuckle, sitting down next to Sandra.
"Yeah." I said walking over and sitting down next to all of them.
I ripped the top of the envelope off and pulled out what was inside. What laid in my hand was the first published copy of my book. The story of mime and my Mom's life. Our entire journey. I looked down at the hard covered book, and ran my hand over the bold letters. "Gilmore Girls"
"It's finally here." I said letting out a breath.
"You did good Ace." He said, smiling down at the book and then up at me.
"No, we did great." I replied smiling back.
I looked at my family who sat there with me. I love them so much, Logan, Sandra, and Richard Gilmore-Huntzberger. In this moment, I knew I had everything I could ever ask for.
