After opening his eponymous firm in 2001, Jawad's focus switched to product design and development; like the pioneering of commercialized pension commutations as well as the redemption process.
In 2002, the real estate division was launched which has grown into what Fortress is today. Having a give attention to marketing, Jawad's time is spent growing the brand by teaming with some of Canada's top developers and expanding the advisor network through financial professionals.
Jawad remains active within the business community. A passionate sports fan, Jawad believes in building communities by supplying support for programs that assist children in disadvantaged areas get involved in recreational and amateur sports. He has been active in various grassroots campaigns such as a reading & learning centre during the Jane/Finch neighbourhood where Jawad lived to be a youngster as well as a program that sends at-risk youth to sports camps and provide them the ability to re-qualify every year.

Using sports and recreation being a conduit for giving back, Jawad established a relationship with MLSE Team Up Foundation, a corporation whose goals are firmly in keeping with the Fortress philosophy of community betterment. Jawad sits in the Chairman's Club Committee for Team Up Foundation and contains spearheaded a brand new charitable program, "Fortress Gives" - focused on giving back in the communities where that Fortress is purchased.
