Chapter 1: Meeting Jake Smith

He moved in today. The cutest guy I have ever seen. The guy I'm talking about is the neighbors kid Jake Smith he's been expected by his father for two months. I'm supposed to help him but because he's so cute I shouldn't even worry about him. He looked strait at me and smiled shaking his head disappointed. Wow its like he can read my mind. Seriously Em that's ridiculous no one can read minds. I walked over to him readying myself to begin introductions, "Hello I'm Emily Shaw you must be Jake Smith." I introduced myself. "I should have guessed, my father told me an incredibly attractive girl lives right next door... he was wrong... you're even prettier" he commented smiling. " You're so funny I might just die" I replied sarcastically. I have never believed I was pretty, not even a little. "But your gorgeous and could never be ugly even if you tried, please believe me" he replied nonchalantly. "I need to go" I said as I ran back into my house as fast as I could. God what have I gotten myself into. He will always think I'm a freak from now till he leaves, "Wait! how on Earth did he know what I was thinking?"

"Emily Ann Shaw get your little butt down to the family room right this second!" my mother called angerly. I flew down the stairs as fast as I could, I had never heard that tone in her voice before. Glaring at me as I entered the room, "How dare you make our new neighbor feel unwelcome! March your butt back over to his house and apologize!" I spun around and left the house to apologize. I knocked on the door 3 times as hard as I could, Jake's dad opened the door, "Hello Emily," he said with a smile. "Hello Mr. Smith I am looking for Jake," I said shyly. He invited me in, pointed to the stairs, "Third door on the left, if you hit the bookcase you have gone to far," he chuckled. I smiled weakly and started up the stairs, right as I got to the first door it swung open, hitting me, I fell to the floor. "Ouch! My face!" I cried. Shutting the door Jake saw me on the floor, with a little chuckle he apologized and helped me to my feet, with a force that almost knocked him to the floor. I looked at him, then tried to look into the room he had just come from. He shut the door the rest of the way as fast as I could blink. "Why are you here?" he asked with an inquisitive smile. "I came to apologize," I said. I wonder what is in that room, I thought to myself. "Nothing to concern your self with," he snapped. "What do you mean?" I asked. Jake's face became unreadable. "Well..."he asked me. "Oh yeah! I am so sorry if I made you feel unwelcome when I ran off like that." I said like it had been read from a script. "Let me guess..." he said, "Your mother sent you over to apologize, didn't she?" I smiled, feeling embarrassed, "Yeah sorta, but I do feel bad if I made you feel that way." He smiled, as I retreated home feeling embarrassed. "I will see you later, Emily Shaw," he said smiling. "Bye," I whispered with embarrassment at the way said my name.

Chapter 2: Meeting Emily Shaw

Journal, Aug. 31:

When I arrived at my father's house this morning the most beautiful girl I had ever seen, Emily Shaw, she was walking toward me, thinking that I was attractive, it made me smile. As she walked over she was convincing herself that I could not read her mind, little does she know I can. ;-) We got to talking a little when I accidentally answered one of her thoughts, it freaked her out, and she ran away. I went to the Family Library (FL) to see if there was a way I could tell thoughts from real words if I wasn't looking at their mouths. So far I have found NOTHING!

As I was leaving the FL I hit Emily with the door, how stupid can I get! I didn't know what to do at first, but it was a little funny, so I gave a weak I am sorry chuckle and helped her up. As I was pulling her up I almost fell to the floor myself...smooth. I felt like such a gubber. She was here to apologize and I hit her with the door! She tried to look into the FL which made me nervous so I slammed the door closed as fast as I could maybe even a little to fast. I asked her why she was here in such a mean way even though I didn't mean it that way, I was just SO nervous. :-/ She gave me an apology that was recited from memory like she gives it all the time. I did it twice in one day and read her thoughts again, she got so confused. As she was walking away I said, " I will see you later, Emily Shaw," trying to be smooth, which I am pretty sure worked because after that she turned bright red and started thinking about how I said her name. I think she may be my anima feminam, soul mate. I am so drawn to her, like I have never been drawn to anyone else. Almost like magic.
