 *Flashback/Dream*

Mia's ponytail hit my face repeatedly as she attempted to slither out of my iron grip. Her father tried to reach for her in his drunken state but he missed her and his long claw like fingertips raked across my skin drawing blood.

A blood curdling scream escaped my chapped lips as the pain came as a whole. I heard a low chuckling sound and noted that Mia's dad was laughing about how he had hurt a 13 year old boy physically. While he was chuckling I took my chance and dragged myself and Mia into the treehouse that her own father had built for her on her 9th birthday.

We clambered up the unevenly placed wood planks and sat down on the dust covered plastic chairs that were placed near the back of the treehouse. "I'm sorry you had to see that," Mia mumbled. "It's alright, I just wanted to make sure you were alright when I heard him yelling at you." I replied. "Thank you" Mia whispered back as she walked over and hugged me tightly.

*End of Flashback/Dream*

I woke up for the second time that night and groaned when I read my red alarm clock, 6:23 AM and I had the first shift at the coffee shop. It took all my effort to get out of bed and slide into the shower. As I turned the throttle all the way to the left, I jumped in and washed myself clean.

But as I attempted to get out I slipped on the pearly white tiles and winced in pain as I fell on my bottom. Great, I'm late to work already and now I have to deal with a sore bottom.

When I finally got up and put some clothes on, I walked into my room and checked the time. 6:29 AM and I wasn't even in my car driving to work yet.

This is already making it to the top 10 worst days of my life list, I thought as I grabbed my car keys for my Jeep from my dresser and walked into my garage.

As I zoomed down the road I took out my phone and texted Lora, 'Sorry but I'm gonna be 20 minutes late to work, had a rough morning...'. I didn't have time to check if she replied or not due to the fact that I was stepping out of my car and jogged up to the coffee shops main entrance.

As I grabbed my keys and began unlocking the door, I looked at the name of the shop, Abraco. I always thought that the name was catchy ever since I began to work there.

''Hey, I thought you'd never show up Aiden. I thought I was gonna have to work both shifts, why didn't you text me back after I replied to you?'', the girl known as Lora snapped. ''Listen, I've already had a rough morning so if you'd just shut it momentarily for a bit?'' I snapped back turning around in the process.

I looked into her green eyes and felt something inside me churn, but before anything else could happen, I opened the door and walked inside Abraco and shut the door behind me in her face.

''Hey, I can have you fired you know! Your boss is my sister!'', Lora screamed through the doors. I tried my best to ignore her by focusing on getting the shop ready for business. When I finished getting the shop up and ready I flipped the CLOSED and OPEN sign around showing the words OPEN, and pushed the door ajar.

''You done yet?'', I asked politely before placing a chair down by the door to keep it open. ''Well I'll be inside.'', I said to the quiet Lora.

3 hours felt like 30 minutes, so my shift flew by fast and before I know it, I'm at my moms apartment logging into my computer. ''Honey, foods ready!'', my mom called out from the kitchen.

''Alright, I'm just gonna do some school work first, is that alright!?'', I replied from my bedroom. I guessed she said alright because all I could hear was mumbling.
