It'd been a while since Straw Hat and his crew took Franky and left, but Water 7 was still being repaired from the events of the harsh Aqua Laguna that happened that year. You weren't a Galley-La worker, but you had befriended Iceburg, Paulie, and most other workers on all the docks, so they trusted you with helping with their work. You didn't work every day, but the days you did were always the best.
"Oi oi!" Paulie called for you, and you responded by looking in his direction.
He had a smug-ass grin on his face and he gestured gently at Iceburg. You raised your eyebrows in confusion, but didn't protest at all. Paulie walked over to Peeply Lulu, making sure that you kept your eyes on him, then without warning he pressed the piece of hair that always stook up down into Lulu's head. All three of you simultaneously looked in Iceburg's direction, and heard Paulie cry out in laughter.
"Iceburg,," You said quietly, not expecting him to hear you. He turned towards you and the others with a puzzled expression. He scratched the top of his head, but just missed the piece of hair that belonged to Lulu.
"Oh- uh, sorry. I was just thinking out loud." He shrugged off your answer and got back to work. Paulie, who was already in tears, was also on the ground, trying to recover from the prank he pulled. You wrinkled your nose and smiled at his antics, then got back to work.
A few hours later, another "Oi!" called for you. Looking around, you noticed that it was Lulu that had called for you. Slightly surprised, you went ahead and walked over.
"Paulie and the guys wanna go get lunch. Do you wanna come with?" His face stayed mostly expressionless, but that wasn't anything new.
"Of course!" You replied quickly. You reached to check your pockets for your wallet, but you left it at home this morning. Oops. "Actually, I can't. I don't ha-"
"I got it," offered Lulu, patting your arm before starting off to follow the others. Your eyes widened at his sudden generosity, but you grinned anyways and followed him as well. Paulie walked between Tilestone and Lulu, keeping a (somewhat) quiet conversation with them going. That left Iceburg alone in the front, which you decided to join him. Keeping a straight face during your conversation was difficult, considering that Iceburg still looked like a-
"Iceburg-ossan! You look like a unicorn!" Walking down the street, a mom shushed her daughter who had called their mayor our for having a spike on his head. Paulie first called the mother out for dressing shamelessly, then quickly forgot about that as he laughed at Iceburg's hair again.
"What?" Iceburg didn't stop walking, but he looked at you for clarification.
"Uhm..yeah! You kind of look like a unicorn today, Iceburg."
"Well, am I a good looking unicorn?" His question staggered your next step a bit, as a question like that was not one you hear the mayor of a town say very frequently.
"Uh,,of course!" Unsure of what to say, that's what you went with. Iceburg seemed pleased, to say the least.
You all made it to a nice restaurant and were seated at a round table. You sat between Lulu and Iceburg, while Paulie and Tilestone were sitting sort of across from you. Everything on the menu looked really good, but because Lulu had offered to pay your part of the tab, you didn't want to go all out. Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Paulie whispering to Tilestone, and was pointing at..you? Or Lulu? You weren't sure, but you didn't want to look up to see what was going on.
"YEAH I-" Tilestone started, but Paulie was quick to cover his mouth and shut him up. You and the other two looked up at each other, squinted, then just shrugged it off. Soon after, Paulie excused himself to the restroom, and Iceburg excused himself to ask the management about something. That left you, Lulu, and Tilestone, but you guys kind of pretended that Tilestone had left too. You caught yourself looking at Lulu's hair spike, then tried to shake off the fact that you were staring at his hair. You tried to play cool, but Lulu saw right through it.
"You can play with it if you just ask." You couldn't tell if he was being generous, or if he was annoyed, he didn't usually show much emotion. You pretended like he didn't care and responded by asking to touch his hair. Lulu politely agreed to let you do so by tilting and shifting his body so that you could reach the hair spike.
"Where will it end up?" You asked, but he shrugged. You took that chance anyways and pressed the piece ot his hair down onto his head, seeing it resurface on the other side of his head. God damn, that was fun. You went ahead and did it again, and again, and again until you noticed it spring out of the back of your hand. You were taken aback by whatever Devil's Fruit Lulu had eaten, but still continued to play with his hair until the others came back. Iceburg returned first, then the four of you listened to Paulie get into an argument with a waitress about how shameless she was dressed. You eventually had to get up to grab Paulie before he got you guys kicked out, but he had already been kicked out himself. You returned the news to the guys, and they sighed and stood up to leave.
"He probably wouldn't have paid for his food anyways," Lulu whispered to you, and you grinned because you knew that was true.
Paulie was in a bad mood for a while after that, and walked alone. Iceburg talked to Tilestone, and Lulu was enjoying walking by your side. You also enjoyed walking at Luke's side, just because you got to play with his hair even more.
"Hey guys," Iceburg turned around and said to you two. "Do you wanna go somewhere else with us?"
"Y-"
"No." Lulu interrupted you before you got to finish the first syllable if your sentence. You gave him a look, but he didn't look back. Iceburg shrugged and walked faster with the others, which gave you the opportunity to (lightly) punch Lulu's arm.
"What was that for??" You said angrily, not longer focused on his hair.
"What? I figured you wanted to go somewhere with me before we head back to work."
Your expression softened. Was he asking you out on a date? Kind of?
You weren't gonna reject him though.
"Oh- well of course I do-"
"Then let's go." He gently took your hand and hurried with you down the street, looking for the best restaurant in the city.
