Prologue

The air was still in the silent night within the Kingdom of Armedale. If one were to stare at this fascinating picture, they would see the burnt out lights through the windows of sleeping villagers, the mysterious, glowing eyes of cats prowling through the dark, the abnormally large moon shining upon the body of water around the gigantic castle, who held the renowned King Herald and Queen Ginevra. However, one would also notice the most peculiar, the most obscure, the most unusual thing that didn't look quite right. Was it the strange, shining sparkles the moonlight emitted? Or was it the two guards who fell asleep at their post? In fact, it was neither. If one looked very closely, particularly at the second window on the tower facing the sea, you'd notice a cloaked figure crouching in the window, ready to pounce once the coast was clear.

The cloaked figure stared out into the open sea, their mind adrift from the smooth, silky waves. Although their face was entirely concealed by the blackness of the night, you'd be able to easily hint the desire in their eyes. This is the chance... a chance to begin their journey... their new life.

It didn't matter how high the tower of this magnificent castle was- its ancient age proved to the mysterious figure that an old castle provides very convenient hand holds to climb on. And so with one swift movement, the figure swung out of the window and began descending, using every crack or hole this dear castle could provide. The figure thought this through very carefully for their escape to paradise. The guards below did cross the figure's mind but they had one large downfall- they only focused on not allowing anything to enter the castle, but never what would come out. So naturally, they only looked one way (mind you, these guards were never really intelligent so the figure was banking on that too).

Down, down, down they went- each step brought them closer to the goal that they had nourished their entire life. The cloaked person could feel the excitement brewing, their heart thundering within their chest as their feet finally reached the cold, stone ground. The figure would need to be fast, precise and accurate in order to escape this castle. One wrong move would cost them so much- the thought of it made them shudder in the warm air. They had already prepared for this ordeal- a horse awaited them in the thicket of bushes, chewing on the carrots and apples or so the figure imagined. The figure also left a burlap sack of food, a bottle of water and also the materials for a sturdy tent as it would take many days, perhaps months to travel. But the figure needed to be as far away as possible no matter how long it took.

For the next few moments, the figure carefully crouched against the wall, sliding against it like a snake would slither. The wall happened to connect to a very large stair case, twisting and bending every way towards the courtyard below. This process of not being seen (which proved to be more difficult than the figure anticipated) would delay the journey by the slightest. But the figure held patience as impatience would ultimately lead to failure. Of course, a guard would occasionally walk across but would miss the figure but other times it would be a very close call- too close. At these times, the figure would use a special ability of theirs in order to remain unseen. A simple clench of the fist would kill a nearby light in the lantern. The passing guard would abruptly stop, confused as to what happened. Perhaps the wind, they'd have thought.

As they reached the courtyard, the final wall would then be climbed as one would find it rather difficult to lower a drawbridge without drawing attention. From the opening of those treacherous stairs, the figure sprinted towards the wall, as silent as they could ever be. With quick, precise calculations, they began to climb the final obstacle of their long, awaited escape. They finally reached the top, their silent escape a complete success... or so they thought. For the figure never knew that one little boy witnessed the entire ordeal. The boy was awestruck, amazed as to what he had seen. However, he knew better than to call for the guards or even the king himself. Only this boy could understand who the figure really was. For he knew that the Princess of Armedale wanted to remain unseen, scratched away from the existence of this kingdom.

Elated and shocked, she ran and ran through the quiet night of Armedale. Through the village, through the grass and through the trees with a ringing laughter of happiness and disbelief echoing through the night. She had all the energy in the world- nothing would stop her now. After quite some time, she reached her safe haven in the woods. The horse she had kept, a pure white stallion speckled with brown spots, looked up from the ground, grunting as though he said 'About time.'

'About time, indeed,' she thought. Further on from the thick trees, she could see the edge of a cliff where the forest would ultimately meet the sea. She approached the edge, lifting the hood of her now billowing cloak, as the princess stared onwards towards the ongoing ocean. She also spied the castle, the home (or often referred to as 'prison') of 17 years. Her ocean eyes glistened in the moonlight the smell of victory tingling her body.

I'm free... I'm actually free.

The princess searched her pockets for an object she has possessed for quite some time. She couldn't possibly hate anything more than this object- a symbol of what she was born to do- or made to do. No words needed to be said- the final throw of that dreadful tiara was the best goodbye she could give. Each crashing wave crumbled the tiara- forever destroying her mark as a princess.

Her journey- her new life- could finally begin.

Ok so I haven't posted for a couple years so I figured I might just muck around a bit. I had this thing on you know- i think people call it life. I would actually like to keep going with this but if you goes read it that'd be great. I did edit this but I would've missed something out so my apologies for that. Stop by and vote for this (I can't remember how this works 😂)
