"Is it okay kung mauna ako sa inyo mamaya?"

Gwen and I looked at Helen when she spoke out of the blue. Nasa lobby kasi kami ng Roku, reading our books and doing our homework, since it was our study hall period. And we were already given the homework we needed to submit when we came back next year after the vacation sa ibang subjects namin so sinisimulan na rin namin yung iba.

"Why? I thought we're hanging out sa Starbucks?" I said. Yun kasi ang usapan namin. Pumayag nga si Shishi, eh. Sasama rin siya. Apat kaming tatambay dun for a while kasi nga ang tagal na rin naming hindi nagagawa yun nang lahat kami ay okay. Lagi na lang kasing may problem yung isa.

"Nag-text si Paris, ngayon lang," sabi ni Helen habang nakatingin sa phone niya. "Nagyayaya siyang kumain kami sa The Muffin Cat, eh. May practice sila mamaya, so kain muna raw kami bago yun. Gusto niyong sumama na lang dun?"

"Baka sumama si Kyo." I turned to Gwen. "Is that okay with you?"

She shrugged casually. Like she did not wear a long face the whole night na magkasama kami noong Saturday kasi naka-move on na raw si Kyo. I told her she should have already expected that happening kasi it had been over a month na rin. She said she understood naman daw.

"Sure ka?" Helen asked.

"Yeah. Wala naman problem. He already smiled at me so there should be no awkwardness na," Gwen said. "Like you and Paris, Dee. 'Di ba?"

Titingin dapat ako kay Lenny kasi I could not believe that Gwen had to mention it pa talaga when Paris was already our friend's boyfriend.

Okay, semi-boyfriend. Helen corrected me kanina. Yun lang daw ang pinapakilala ni Paris pero hindi naman daw siya tinatanong. Hindi niya rin daw tinatanong si Paris.

"Tinatamad na ako." Gwen closed her books. "Punta tayo sa OT. Maki-hang out tayo sa Streamers Guild. Nood na lang tayo."

"Tara!" Helen stood up na rin and gathered her things. "Are you coming, Dee?"

"Uh, no. Dito na lang ako. Gusto kong tapusin na yung iba dito. Uuwi na sila Mommy sa Saturday, 'di ba? May plans na sila for after Christmas, eh. So mapupuno calendar ko."

They said okay and left. It really was the routine naman talaga. Kapag Christmas season, umaalis din kami to spend the New Year somewhere else. Pero yung Christmas, doon kami palagi sa bahay namin sa Alabang.

Shishi was with his friends sa Kapisanan kasi naglalaro sila ng DOTA. Ayaw niya sanang sumama noong niyakag siya nila Paris and Kyo, but I told him he should go kasi ang tagal niyang naging absent and he should show up sa club nila kahit para maglaro lang.

"Hey, Dee."

I looked up from my book and smiled at Amy. Tumabi siya sa akin and I was a little surprised when she suddenly held my hand in both of hers.

The look in her face was almost distraught. Her eyes were cast downwards and her lips were pursed kaya kitang-kita yung dimples niya. When she looked at me, nag-shine pa yung brown contacts niya against the lights above us.

"Are you okay?"

She nodded. "I never really got the chance to talk to you about this. But I'm really sorry about your baby."

I thought I did not hear her right so I asked her to repeat herself.

"Your baby with Zach. You lost it, 'di ba?"
