It was stupid really. Just a silly little picture on Instagram. Just her, with her brown hair and brown eyes and lightly tanned skin and dimples that can make your heart melt. But something was different.
She doesn't wear a lot of makeup, just eyeliner and mascara which some people say looks odd but I think it just makes her, her. But she looked different. I couldn't put my finger on it until I looked at the caption.
'I got blue eyeliner for Christmas... cute or weird?'
Knowing her she didn't actually care what people thought. 99.99% of the people could comment weird and she would still wear it to school the next day with absolutely no shame. But it didn't matter because she looks good in everything. The blue though. It brought out the clearness in her eyes. She didn't have those brown eyes that had flecks of different colors in them, she had the ones that were so clear and brown and beautiful that when she smiled they sparkled. They usually had black smeared on the waterline, which made her look sort of terrifying when she wasn't smiling. But when she smiled her whole face transformed. Her dimple came out and her eyebrows creased and her long lashes touched the lenses of her glasses. And she looked like she couldn't hurt a fly, let alone make a teenage boy cry. But she can. And she has. The people at school have learned not to mess with her, because she will lash out and if you invoke her wrath you better run because she shows no mercy. She's not the bully kind of mean, she's the protective kind of mean. She's protective over her friends and her family, god help anyone that says anything about either.
Once she broke a guys nose because he called her little sister a slut. She would've done a lot worse if she hadn't been pulled back by a teacher. She almost killed the boy that cheated on her best friend. She has scissors and everything and the only thing that stopped her from gouging his eyes out was said friend coming and pulling her away. Everyone in school knew who she was. Shes class president, because even though she's terrifying she's also one of the smartest people in the school and she makes the best brownies for bake sales.
So yes, the picture on Instagram looked amazing and I was going to comment so when I saw that about 50 other people had beaten me too it.
'Omg ur so gorge i wish i was u' said a random girl from school.
'girl stop you're making us mere peasants feel bad' there was another one
'beautiful, you got your looks from your moms side ;)' her Tia Lupita, coincidentally from her moms side.
'ughhhhh it hurts! You're too perfect, stoppppp' her best friend
'bleh you took all the good genes I should've been born second' her older sisterSo tomorrow when she wears the eyeliner to school no doubt paired with her Harry Potter shirt she'll get compliments. And she'll smile and laugh and blush and thank them because that's who she is. And I'll just be her shadow. That one weird girl that follows her everywhere and looks at her like I'm obsessed with her. Which I'm not. I just think she's pretty. Beautiful. Perfect. And that's all there is too it.
