It was hard getting used to this New Life since there really wasn't much to do. Catherine didn't answer the phonecalls and i didn't want to seem needy since She was the only person I ha left Right now. It also was really unclear what I was suposed to do every day. I spent my days sleeping eating and walking around the empty streets but I never met any other persons. This had gone on for 5 days now and i had a feeling Catherine has simply forgotten about me. I sighted. My clock said it was 10 am but the Time Always seemed kind of odd here. I decided to stick to a somewhat normal routine and got out of bed. I put on a pair of Black skinny Jeans and a loose shirt and headed downstairs. I opened the fridge door and noticed that it was almost empty. Fuck. How was I suposed to get any food out here? I looked trough the cabinets and settled for a bowl of cornflakes for breakfast. I dropped the bowl and spoon in the sink that was already filled with my other plates but I didn't Have any motivation to do something about it. I grabbed my Jacket and walked out the door. The Street was silent as always; no dogs, no kids, no grumpy neighbors. I decided to do something I had never done before: I would walk into another house. I had never done this before, partially because it felt wrong to just walk into a stranger's house like that but mostly because I was scared of what I would see there since I've never went to a place I didn't have a memory of. I looked around and chose the luxurious mansion across the street. I had admired it in my youth, dreaming of living in that house one day. I walked up the stairs that lead to the front door. The door was white and had a round gold colored doorknob I laid my hand on the cool metal and twisted it. The door swung open easily but what I saw behind it made me anxious. There was a grey and blurry area that seemed to gently suck me in. I turned around and ran down the stairs and I bumped into Catherine. "You should probably close that door." She smiled at me but I was way to upset to joke around. I threw my arms around her. "Why the fuck didn't you call me back!? I thought you forgot about me." Catherine gently freed herself from my embrace. She appeared to be nervous because of my impulsive greeting. "Of course I didn't forget you. In fact I wanted to show you how to manipulate your environment today." "You mean that grey mess out there?" I was shocked. How could she even think I would be capable of creating something from that creepy substance? She literally just watched me run away from it. "Well for now we might just want to adjust the stuff that already exists" she laughed. We walked back to my own house and on the way she showed me how she changed little details around us. She could change the color of a flower or the size of a building but she could also transform a bush into a streetlight. It was amazing seeing her working this magic but I couldn't imagine myself being able to do this too. And it turned out I couldn't. Catherine desperately tried to make me change the color of an apple, an easy move she assured me, but I couldn't even give it a slightly different shade. After more than an hour Catherine gave up but she promised me we would practice more since she was sure that once I got the trick I'd be great at it. I pretended to believe her just so she wouldn't feel too bad when she left. I went to bed early this night. After spending so much time with Catherine I felt even more alone when she was gone. The next morning was harder than usually. It took me 2 hours to get myself out of bed and another hour to shower and get dressed so it was almost noon when I walked out the door. I had no place to go but it had become a routine to take a walk around the block and it at least gave me something to do for half an hour. I was almost at my front door when I saw the silhouette of a human In the garden of my neighbor's house. I quickly ran around it but as soon as I reached the figure my mood dropped. It was not a person but the small tree Catherine had changed into the shape of a person yesterday. I felt stupid for not remembering this before running around like a crazy person and I walked back to my home slamming the front door behind me. That's when the picture dropped. It was a framed  photo of me and my dad in an amusement park. I heard the glass shatter and my heartbeat stared spreading up. I walked over to the picture and my worst fear was being confirmed. Not only the frame was shattered; the photo itself was somehow ripped up. I started sobbing uncontrollable and it wasn't until after an hour that I tried to fix it. It took me a long time. I tried for 1½ hours straight. I had my mind set on it and I succeeded. I put back the picture and restored the frame to its original state. I hung it back in its place when Catherine walked in and gave me a hug "I told you you'd be good at it" she proudly reminded me.
