My hands nervously tug at the bottom of my oversized gray sweater, before pulling up the right sleeve. 0:0:0:0:13:57 was the time remaining on the little watch type thing attached to my wrist. I bet you want to know what's going on. Well, this watch on my wrist has been counting down the years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds until I finally meet my soulmate. Technology has come along way since my mom was a child, or that's what she tells me. You see, every second a baby is born another watch starts and is given to the parents for safe keeping. Now, if the parents give the watch to the child as it gets older, that's a choice. My parents decided to give mine to me.

I am walking through the park, watching the fall leaves drift lightly through the cool autumn air. I was slightly dressed up for the occasion, in my light oversized gray sweater, hot pink skinny jeans, light brown leather boots, and a pink and gray pokadotted scarf with my long blonde hair curled in wide ringlets, a gray beanie sat simply on my head. A simple silver necklace hung from my neck, resting softly at my collarbone, shaped like a paper airplane. Within the next eleven and a half minutes, my mind will be filled with what ifs and different scenarios. I mean, I'm just meeting my OTP people... No biggie!

I sat down on an old bench, trying to calm down. Pulling out an old worn copy of Fault in Our Stars, I began to read silently. With a glance at my watch it told me that I had four minutes and twenty three seconds left. Breathing deeply, I took in the scenery. The trees filled with the colors of fall, birds chirping softly, wind blowing through the trees, squirrels scampering in the dry leaves that dappled the brown grass. As far as I could see, I was the only human here and my minutes were down to two.

What if I'm not in the right place? Or if my watch is broken!

Thoughts of doubt filled my head as I began to run, searching for a boy before the clock went to zero.

Ten.

Nine.

Eight.

Seven.

Six.

Five.

I was full on sprinting to the park exit.

Four.

Three.

Two.

One.

"Oof!" I felt myself run into something solid, causing me to fall to on my butt. Rubbing my back, my ears heard the most beautiful voice. "I'm so sorry! Are you hurt?" I look up to see a pair of brown eyes staring back into my blue ones. An adorable crooked smile spreads over the strangers lips as he helps me up. "So you are who I've been waiting my whole life to meet?" He says gently.

Zero.
