New Boyfriend and Good News

It has been a few weeks since Spencer had asked me to be his girlfriend and so far everything has been going well. My mom and sister are getting better faster than normal, which I believe to be God at work.

I was currently on break from working the cash register at Chik-Fil-A, when I got a phone call. I looked at the id on the screen and saw Spencer's smiling face. I pressed answer as the corners of my mouth tilted up.

*phone conversation*
R=Riley, S=Spencer

R: Hey Spence!
S: Hey baby girl! What's up?
R: Nothing much, just taking a break from work. You?
S: Oh right! I forgot you worked from 11 to 4. And I wanted to ask you a question
R: Ok shoot
S: Well I wanted to know when you wanted to tell everyone about...you know...us?
R: Umm...I mean I guess we can tell them after I get off of work? What is everyone doing?
S: Oh everyone is just hanging out at the new office
R: Ok. Can you pick me up after work?
S: Yeah! Totally!
R: Ok cool! So I'll just text you after I get done working, ok?
S: Yeah sounds good! Gosh I can't wait to see everyone's reaction.
R: Yeah I know! To be honest though I'm kinda nervous
S: Don't be nervous babe (gosh that words makes me cringe so much) they'll be happy for us. I know that for a fact
R: Ok if you say so. Hey I gotta get back to my shift I'll talk to you later ok?
S: Ok bye love
R: Bye

*end of conversation*

I went to the back to clock in and headed back up front to the register. I worked alongside a friend that I had made. Her name is Ashley. We have become good friends over the few weeks that I had been working there. I turned and saw that she was currently at the window taking orders when she saw me and winked. I turned back around as a costumer walked in.

(Time skip to the end of her shift)

I walked to the back to clock out and grabbed my stuff. I hugged Ashley goodbye and walked out the glass doors. I texted Spencer that I was done and waited. My phone buzzed as I received a text.

Spence🍩😘: I'm parked right in front of you love

I looked up and saw Spencer leaning on his car. I smiled as I walked towards him. He opened his arms as I got to him and hugged me. He kissed the top of my head and pulled away.

"Are you ready?" He asked me. I nodded.

"As ready as I'll ever be" I responded. I walked to the passenger side of the vehicle and got in. Spencer drove us to the new studio where everyone else was hanging out.

After about 20 minutes, we finally arrived to the studio. I walked up to the door with Spencer behind me. I turned to look at him, and he gave me a reassuring smile. I faced forward and opened the door. Laughter could be heard as soon as the separation from the inside and the outside was compromised. I walked in and Spencer closed the door behind us. Everyone turned so now the attention was on us. Jewel stood up and walked over to me to give me a hug.

"How was work" she asked. I responded with a quiet 'good', so quiet even I could barely hear myself. She pulled away and a confused look had replaced the smile she had when I first saw her.

"Riley is everything alright?" She asked quietly as to not alarm the others. I silently thanked her and gave her a look that says 'I to talk to you'. She nodded and took me to one of the back rooms that this building had. She led me into a room and closed the door behind us. She turned to me and got straight to the point.

"What's wrong?" She asked a second time. I looked down, debating whether or not I should tell her. I made a decision quick and looked back up.

"I'm scared" I replied simply. She looked confused yet again.

"Of what?" She stepped closer. I looked around, too nervous to say anything.

"Riley, you know you can tell me anything, right?" I nodded and looked down. I heard shuffling and soon felt a hand in my shoulder. I looked up.

"Don't be afraid to tell me anything" she said. I nodded and gathered as much courage as I could.

"Spencer and I...are...dating. As of one month yesterday" I finally got out. She just gave me a blank stare. 'I knew it. She wouldn't be happy about us dating'.

"Riley...that's...that's great!" I looked up as I heard this. She was smiling. She hugged me and I wrapped my arms around her, returning the hug. After a few minutes she pulled away and held onto my shoulders.

"Are you going to tell the others?" She questioned.

"Well yeah we were planning to today" I replied. She gave me a surprised look. She grabbed my arm and spoke.

"Well then let's go tell them" she said and dragged me out the door and to the main room where everyone is currently. Once we were inside I saw Spencer in the corner talking with Joey. He looked over in my direction and smiled, then started walking towards me. Once he stood in front of me he held my right hand with his left and turned towards everyone else. He cleared his throat to get their attention. My eyes glanced over to Jewel and she winked at me. I smiled and tightened my grip on Spencer's hand, but not enough to hurt him.

"Um guys...and ladies me and Riley have an announcement" he paused and looked at me. I continued his sentence.

"We...are dating" I finished. Everyone was silent before Chad spoke up.

"Finally! What took you guys so long" I gave him a confused look. He seemed to get my confusion.

"I figured out the you two were dating sometime last week" he informed us. I nodded and laughed. Caleb came over to us and pat Spencer on the shoulder.

"Congrats you two" Spencer thanked him and I smiled. He gave me a hug. After hugs and a round of 'congratulations' me and Spencer sat down on the couch next to Joey and Jewel. After about thirty minutes and a long conversation about food, I got a phone call from an unknown number. I excused myself and went to a different room. I pressed answer and put my phone up to my ear.

*phone conversation*

R: Hello?
Unknown: Hi is this Riley Johnson?

Wait a minute that voice sounds familiar...

R: Mom?
Unknown: Hi sweetheart, how are you?
R: Mom...

I trailed off with tears forming in my eyes.

R: Mom I'm fantastic
M: That's good, well I was calling you to see if you would come pick me and your sister up from the hospital

More happy tears

R: Don't worry I'm on my way
M: Good I'll talk to you when you get here. I love you
R: I love you too mom
M: Bye sweetheart
R: Bye

*end*

I walked back into the main room and everyone's eyes were me. Spencer looked worried.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Spencer asked sorry laced in his voice. I just smiled.

"We need to go pick up my mom and sister at the hospital" I smiled. He looked me in the eye and smiled.

"Looks like we are headed to Iowa" he said and I hugged him.

I'm so sorry that this was so late. I've been incredibly busy lately and haven't had time to write, but I'm so glad to be back. I hope that you all enjoyed this chapter and I will see all of you beautiful ninja in the next chapter.
