Chapter Sixteen

Kaelen stared at the green blazer that appeared to be on fire in the mirror.  He'd arrived on campus four days ago and he was loving every minute of it.  He'd already made the acquaintance of Lucas Sinclair, Jacob Lawson and Ebony Talisman. It didn't take him long to realize after being with them he'd not be making any more acquaintances.  But he was fine with that.

Walking out of his room he walked to the elevator to go to the fourth floor to get Kayla for breakfast. After she had recovered the head medic and school president were full of questions but he and Kayla didn't provide any answers.  After about forty-five minutes, Lucas had spoken a few words, they'd both cringed and they were all leaving the glass building.

As he walked to her door she stood there beaming up at him before he could even ring her doorbell.  He smiled fondly at the sister his mother adored before her unexpected passing. With a smile she jumped from side to side singing his name as if they didn't meet before breakfast every day.

"You seem excited this morning, Kayla."

Dancing in circles like a child she sang, "I am excited! The first year versus the second year sparring event is in less than a week."

He smirked and watched her expressive face. "Do you think you can beat a second years."

Kayla giggled while she walked to Lucas and Jacob’s door, "I can beat you, so yes!"

Ringing the bell she smiled up at him. She worshipped the ground he walked on and she was excited to be able to spar with him again.  When the door slid open she nodded, "I'm going to meet Ebony then we’re eating in the quad."

Jacob watched Kayla skip away and thought back to two days ago when both Ebony and Kayla were questioned by the president.

Dabbing sweat from his brow, President Jensen’s eyes darted nervously to the Ah'Tarians glaring at him from the corner of the room to Kaelen Ward's imposable form and finally to the two girls seated at the table in front of him.  "Ebony?  Makayla?  Do you remember what happened to you?"

Ebony stared blankly at the wall behind the president's head, nodding slowly before answering. "Kayla and I were leaving Gabby's Lounge and I started to fall down the stairs.  I reached out for help."

"I tried to grab her and we both fell down the stairs," concluded Kayla softly.

"I was in so much pain and started to call for help.  A pretty blond walked over to us and smiled down before kicking me in the head," ended Ebony.

President Jensen turned his attention to Kayla, "What do you remember next?"

"I remember waking up in a pink and red room that was very tacky," replied Kayla matter of factly.

"Whose room did she wake up in," asked Kaelen, clearly upset.

The president looked like he'd pass out when asked this question.  "I'm not at liberty to say," he stated.

Anthony glanced over to Jacob and Lucas with a ghost of a smile on his face; they'd somehow managed to pull it off.  Calmly he interjected, "She was found in Orchid Rose Sinclair's suite."

Bolting from against the wall, Kaelen angrily turned to Lucas, "Why in the name of hades was she in a Sinclair's room?” Pointing accusingly he continued, "Were you involved?"

Lucas looked the picture of innocence as he replied, "No, I had nothing to do with it."  After frowning he continued, "But I'm sure Anthony and the president will investigate further."

Anthony nodded slowly as he answered with a tad of irony, "Yes.  We will definitely be looking into what Orchid had to do with this."

Ebony added, "Lucas and Jacob had decided to go to another club. Kayla and I had wanted some fresh air so we decided to walk to the dorms."
