You peer around the corner of your doorway, its quite dark, and all is silent except for the few barks here and their from the neighbors dog. You pull Jason to your chest, his soft fake fur is comforting to your young mind. You slightly squeeze his soft arm, the stuffing inside shifting to fit your grasp. You take a quiet step out of the room, regaining your confidence. You silently walk down your hall, staring up at the walls, pictures of your family hang on them. You shoot your gaze forward, your heart pounding as your silently shift through the halls, that your so eagerly beg to get out of. Your look down at the carpet, your young seven year old mind chooses to recall a painful memory. You slowly bring your gaze back up to see yourself curled up against the wall blood soaked your clothing, blood that had poured from your nose and mouth. Your father, in a drunken rage had chosen to take his blind rage out of you, and at that time you had no clue why, i mean why would you, you where only three. You blink those visions away, your young mind had to force itself to understand the greater meaning to things. Your stop, Jason falls from your arms as you look to see your mothers door open, your innocence scrapes at your brain. You slowly walk over to her bedroom door, pulling your head around the frame, to see a sight. You grasp your chest firmly as you're gaze starts at the floor, a chair kicked over to one side, your begin to go up, examining the lifeless body of the now worthless human you had called mother. Your eyes begin to blur with tears as you slowly walk over to the phone that sat by her bed. You pick up and dial the emergency hot line, telling them the situation in a shaky voice, all the wile watching your mother sway back and forth slightly. Once they get here you had already packed up your things, clothing, bandages, and Jason. Officers take you away in their car, the one sitting in the passenger side turns around to you, her voice is kind, like mothers used to be.
"Do you know what had happened?" She smiled, handing you a lollipop.
You nod, giving her the real answer, "My mother and I where abused by my father, and my Mother couldn't take it anymore, so she left."
You notice the officers face turn from friendly to concerned quickly, you open up the gift she gave you sticking the orange flavored treat in your mouth , staring out the window you could just barely see out of, you where quite small for your age. You get to the station and take your bag inside, the first place you go is to the trashcan to throw away the wrapper. The officer follows behind you, watching you carefully. She puts a hand on your right shoulder, you wince pulling away. She looked at you confused, you look back up at her, pain lace your eyes, she can see it to, her face frowns as she knelled down to your height.
"Who did this to you? All of your cuts and bruises" She says as if you could easily tell her.
Fear grips your heart so roughly you feel like vomiting, you press your lips tightly together, and gaze down. The door swings open and in walks the very man you despise, you dart behind the officer gripping her shirt tightly. She looks at your father, her face stern, she quickly turns to you and points to the lady behind the desk.
"Go with her, take this and show her this" she pushes you away quickly as you stumble to the desk, showing the lady badge.
She quickly leans over the tall desk, and like an eagle, stoops you up and sets you under the desk, holding your bag close, your body shakes violently. You hear your fathers loud voice yell at the officer. You gaze around in your small wooded confinement you begin to feel the security of the small space. You set you head down on your knees you backpack giving your back support. You blink, you eyelids become heavy, you gently close them, a perfect memory fades, if only it had really went that way.
