The Alley.
That forbidden place that everyone has warned Jordan about. His teacher, especially his mom.
Of course, he never listened. He believed that adults are too old to understand. In ways he was correct. They didn't understand his motives to go down to The Alley, a small, underground building drug dealers and wanna be thugs go to evade cops and make trades.
Kids tell him to be a man and go, despite the warnings they too get from adults. So what's he supposed to do, in a world where kids are respected feared more than adults.
Jordan didn't go just because of peer pressure or to be a rebel. He went in search of something, or someone. He was lacking in this one person. The one that every boy, or even every child should have in their life. He was on a mission, because he knew this person would show up here, in The Alley, where there are drugs and guns and warmth and outsiders are accepted. He was searching for his father.
Not only his father but someone to show love to one who didn't have a father. He needed a big brother, a protector. Though he was searching in the wrong place, they loved him more than a father ever could. Between that and the love he was getting from his mom and teachers, that was enough to fuel him on his quest to find his father.
