We all have dreams. Some are influenced by the movie we watched before bed, while others have meaning. That's what Daddy told me.
I had a dream one night. Nothing unusual, right?
In my dream, my grandma Mimi and my Papa were there. They looked like judges, and were seated way high up in big, scary chairs. I was standing in front of them, with a big guilty sign hanging from my neck. There were a lot of people seated behind me, looking like the angels that you see in the Junior Church pictures.
Suddenly, a hugie big, hairy monster pushes through the doors and starts toward me. He's yelling things like, 'Come with me!! It's OK! You won't get in trouble!' I had heard his voice before, when I wanted a cookie that my aunt Cassandra and I had made, but Mimi said no. I took the cookie, but got in trouble afterward. He scared me terribly; I knew that whatever he wanted me to do could very well lead to a spanking from Daddy. Just as he bent down to scoop me into his clutches, a man swoops down on vine, Tarzan style, and gathers me up. He looks a lot like the man in the white robe and red sash that I had seen in the pictures with the angels. But before He saved me, He said, 'Trust Me, Jessie, and I will save you. I will never leave you.'

At school the next morning during Bible Class, my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Brown talked about how a man named Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins. The word 'save' caught my attention. The man in my dream had said that he would save me.Mrs. Brown said that we all sin and that we don't deserve to be saved. That reminded me of my favorite verse, Romans 3:23: 'For all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.'
As usual, I rode the bus home with my aunt Kelly, aunt Cassandra, and uncle James. We got off at Mimi's house and I could not wait until Mommy got home so that I could ask her more about Jesus and how he can save me.
Finally, after a few hours, my mother arrived and we drove home which was a half mile down the road from Mimi's house. I was bouncing up and down in my car seat knowing that I would have to wait until we were getting supper started because she was on the phone.
Finally, finally, FINALLY, after we get water boiling and I'm practically jumping out of my skin, I say, "Mommy, can I ask you something?"
"Sure honey, what is it?" She replies.
"Do I sin? Does God love me? Will I ever be allowed into heaven?"
"Well sweetheart, that all depends on whether you accept God's gift or not. Everyone sins, but God always loves you- no matter what. Just like I do."
I think it over for a minute, and reach my decision.
"Mommy, will you help me ask Jesus into my heart?"
She blinks, and a smile slowly spreads across her face.
"Of course!!"
And that night I went to sleep with the knowledge that the man from my dream would never leave me.
