As the constant light from the fireworks had stopped, the only source of light was from Sera's fire sword. The fireworks had only left its remnant existence in the sky – the smoke – which covering the sky now. More smoke was rising skyward as Sera kept swaying her sword to kill the Cerulean soldiers as well to defend herself. The moment it touched those rotten bodies, it spread like wildfire and lit up the area for a moment before died out.
When another burning body brighten the small zone, Keichi realized that they were being pushed to the nearest exit from the fort. No matter how many of the ghost soldiers that they killed, it still outnumbered them. If they didn't die because of getting stab, they would probably die from exhausted. He was sure of it.
"They are too many, Boss!"
"I know," Keichi yelled. "Just hold on! The help will arrive soon."
On the other side, Sera was panting heavily. Her movement became slower and she did many mistakes that almost devoured her life. A few cuts here and there had ruined her kimono. Sweats formed behind the mask that she used to protect her face just now. She was sure if she didn't use it, her face will not be recognizable again. She held her breath when she dodged an ax and let it out as she stepped forward to planted her fire sword inside the soldier's stomach.
"Seraphine!" Alexei called her. She could hear there was a worried tone in his voice.
She turned around, but couldn't see Alexei. Instead, she only saw countless dead soldiers had surrounded her. Crap! Since when did she move inside this nightmare?
"This couldn't be happening," Sera talked to herself.
She wasn't in her good condition now. She was exhausted after dealt with those ghost soldiers that she killed before. Her magic power was almost depleted and she didn't bring her dagger. Even if she brought it, Sera was sure she didn't have enough strength to move.
"Hang on, Seraphine!" Alexei yelled. "I'm going there."
"Hurry!"
After shouted her answer, Sera tried to focus on the enemies around her, but many things popped up inside her head and those lead her to overthinking. This situation had messed up her mind.
'Stupid me!' She started to blame herself.
Sera blamed her careless act that always made everybody felt worried. If she was cautious with her surrounding earlier, she wouldn't put her own self in the center of this madness. Alexei wouldn't be so worried right now. Her act was put both of them in a dangerous situation more than before.
Slash!
She was in the middle of fighting with the dead soldier when her fire sword disappeared from her hand, making her grasped the air. Sera suddenly felt weak and before she realized what had happened, she already fell on her knees.
"No! Sera!"
"Seraphine!"
'Keichi-san and Alexei. Why are they shouting my name?'
Sera looked downward. Her hand was touching her stomach from the moment she knelt. A rusty smell filled her nose. Blood was all she saw the moment she lifted her hand. When she looked at her stomach, a large blood stain was covering her beautiful kimono, turning it into dark red. She remembered now. She miscalculated her opponent's movement earlier. Instead of took a step back, she moved aside and met the pointy sword. It left a deep scratch on her stomach.
"Move her, Alexei!"
'He must be worried now.' She thought while seeing Alexei's face who carrying her. 'Ah, I make him worried again. Silly me.'
