Chapter 1
They say we are infinite.
It was my eighteenth birthday. I was free. I'm finally going to WMU.
Honestly, I didn't care what I looked like on the first day. Sure there would be a lot of people, but it's not like I'm gonna meet anyone special... Right?
Wrong.
I put on my brother's sweatpants. Nice, comfy, and oversized. I put on a simple Slipknot tee and some converse. Who even likes Slipknot anymore?
I picked up my previously- packed luggage that was bursting at the seams. It was full of my clothes, shoes, makeup, and of course toothpaste and things.
I grabbed my purse and luggage and put it at my door. "Oh! I almost forgot!"
I went into my closet and grabbed my longboard. My dad gave it to me when I was 13, and I've been skating ever since.
But sadly it's winter now. Because of the stupid snow everywhere, I can't skate.
But we were in the mountaintops of Tennessee. Maybe there won't be snow in Michigan.
Wrong again.
I grabbed my luggage and went downstairs. My parents were on the couch "casually chatting" about how proud they were of me, as they said.
I went to our kitchen and slipped a banana into my purse. I wish I could get a full breakfast, but I had a lot to do today.
I said goodbye to my parents and my brother, who seemed pleased for me to go, and said goodbye to my pets. My cat, dog, and hamster.
I grabbed my things and put them in the back of my black Toyota Tundra.
I took one last look at the house I had lived in for a mere eighteen years....
Then I drove off.

I drove to the airport in the pouring rain. As I got there, I parked in a spot nearest to the entrance. I ran to the door, getting soaking wet in the process.
I went through luggage check and all the stuff they do.
They took my luggage and I made my way to where the seating area by the fast food restaurants are.
I started reading "The Fault in our Stars" when people started piling in around me.
The seats were two rows connected, about ten seats long.
All the seats were full except the seat to my right.
A young guy around 19 (20 now D: ) wearing a short sleeve button down, khaki shorts, and a pair of toms approached. He was carrying a see-through backpack which inside looks like a journal or sketchbook, some type of snacks, and colored pencils.
An artist maybe?
He sits down in the seat beside me. Out of the corner of my eye I notice his curly brown hair was tucked into a beanie, and his brown eyes were behind a pair of 3D Polaroid glasses with the lenses punched out.
We sit in silence for a while and then he turned to me, extending his hand.
"Hi, I'm Gabe.
Gabe Coury."
