Short Story
9•28•16

Debra packed the last of her belongings into her wagon, and then she was off to see new places of the world, like she always dreamed of doing. The first place she discovered was green and bright, the next one after she saw was a desert with white square buildings. The next, had waterfalls gleaming with rainbow colored fish skipping in the water and with trees all around. The last place she saw was a castle, with rose bushes tied all around the castle, and there were two tall trees one on each side of it; and even all of these places Debra saw were beautiful, she only wanted to live in a twinkling castle...and once again, be a princess.

Debra was always a princess, to her father. She loved her father very much, and one day her father set off on a mission, but he didn't come back... every friend of Debra's father choose to think he is lost now and will not ever come back home. But Debra has hope that her father will be back. It's been a year since she had last seen her father, and in that time, Debra lost her home, her mother's garden, her friends, and possibly her father. "How did it ever come to this?" Debra always questioned...wondering how long she had been gone from her hometown, she left the view of her dream-beloved castle, wishing to be called a princess again. She headed back home to start over.

Debra never seemed so sad, so mournful...depressed. She was so very young, too young to live on her own, so she went in search of a husband. A few months passed by, living in a wagon was not her way to live, but she had no other place to go when not thinking of her father... lost without him, Debra decided to set up her own shop in the back of her wagon. She sewed and knitted all day and all night, once she had things done and ready to display, people came about and bought every big or little thing she had created. All the women and men were filled with joyful and bright smiles when they had the things they just wanted and needed. "Ooh! I love this dress! Father, can I have this dress, it's beautiful and filled with a sunny morning of flowers?!" A little girl said hugging the dress and twirling around, "oh father please! Isn't it wonderful?"   "Yes, darling it is. Young lady, how much is this dress?"   "Oh well...let's see, how does $5 dollars sound?"   "That sounds great, thank you." The father replied with a joyous uplifting smile. "You are very welcome; hey little girl, you be a wondrous  princess for your father, because you are all he loves, alright?" Debra smiled, and as she did she handed the little girl a set of white gloves, "these are from my mother, my father bought them for her as a birthday gift... before my mother passed away she gave these gloves to me. Now I want you to have them, because you are a princess I see you growing up to be."
"Thank you Miss..." The little girl smiled and giggled happier than before, with new gloves and a new dress. She danced over to her father; and he looked back at Debra, and smiled. As the father and daughter headed home, Debra could see herself and her father in front of her, starting over again.
