28. Arsonist's Lullaby

~Jazmine~

I turn the arrow in my hand and stare at the tip. I take it off and set it down. I lean back and close my eyes. Vague images flash across my lids then result in pure darkness. I open my eyes and look back at the arrowhead. I screw it back into the shaft and set it in my quiver. I walk downstairs and to the basement. I turn my head sideways and listen.

"We're coming for all of them Jazmine."

"Don't say I didn't warn you, little girl."

"One by one."

"I've seen your fate."

"We're going to kill all of them, one by one."

"We're just alike you and I."

"One.by.one."

"Jazmine, what are you doing down here?" Danielle asks.

"Making sure you guys cleaned up." I reply before clearing your throat. "I want you guys to try and get at least four hours in today. Just to be safe."

"I'll deliver the message." She says with suspicion in her voice.

"Good." I stare at the wall in front of me. I hear her walk away and I place my hand against the wall.

"Chienne!!!"

"I'm only trying to help you."

"They're all dead now anyways!"

"Not all of them Jazmine. They saved the best for last."

"No."

"They always do."

I furrow my eyebrows and step back.

"JAZMINE!!!"

I bite my lip and stare at the ground. Something feels wrong, incredibly and unbelievably wrong. I shake it off and continue walking through the woods. I flip across the ravine onto Cullen territory and continue my short voyage to the Cullen house. I catch a scent and look around, turning in a small circle. I turn back and take off running toward the Cullen house. I jump up and flip, sliding through the window and landing perfectly.

"You know, there's a purpose for doors right?" Edward teases.

"This coming from the guy who climbed through Bella's window almost every night." I retort. "I was being chased by chimeras, and if I get bit, the venom will kill me within an hour. I don't get the luxury of just running away and never letting anyone find out I got bit."
