Charlie's POV
"So are they okay?" Danny asked me over the phone.
"They say they are but I know they're lying. They obviously miss the boys." I replied.
"Do I need to give Harper a brotherly talk?"
"No, please don't!" I laughed. "She'll probably be mad that I even told you all of this. She doesn't exactly like people knowing every single detail about her life."
"Nobody does." he stated. "Are you okay with all of this?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you hung out with them too. Don't you miss them?" Danny asked.
"Well, yeah." I admitted. "But I miss you more. Enough about me, what's new with you?"
"Nothing really. My mom got a new job. She's finally a nurse." he told me.
"That's great! I'm so proud of her. She's wanted to be a nurse for so long."
"I know, it's about time she found a part-time nursing job."
"Yeah, and speaking of jobs, I might have one soon." I stated.
"Really? Where?"
"At Charlotte Russe, my all time favorite store."
"That's amazing! I'm so happy for you Char." he congratulated and I could just tell he was smiling through the phone.
"Well, it's not set in stone but I'm sure Aly and I will get the job."
"What about Harper?" Danny asked.
"She actually got a job. She's working at a hair salon with some girl she just met."
"Harper can't cut hair to save her life. How on earth did she get a job there?"
"I think she's just gonna be a cashier. She left for work 2 hours ago. She should be back around 6. Want me to tell her to call you?"
"Yeah, that'd be great." Danny said. "Bye Charlie, I love you."
"Love you too." I smiled and hung up the phone.
I heard something drop in the kitchen, making me jump. I scurried out of the room and found Aly picking up broken pieces of a cereal bowl.
"Sorry." she muttered and she continued picking up the pieces.
I walked over and bent down slowly to help her with the glass.
"No, it's okay. I got it." Aly said in barely a whisper.
"Aly, what's wrong?" I asked even though I pretty much already knew the answer.
"Me. That's what's wrong." she replied and her voice cracked a little. Her eyes began welling up with tears and I stopped picking up the glass.
"Why do you think that?" I asked curiously.
"I can never do anything right. I can't even make a bowl of cereal without screwing something up." she whimpered.
"Is this about Niall?" I asked and she nodded as she bit her lip, trying not to cry.
She looked down shyly at the broken glass and said softly, "He kissed me on the cheek."
My eyes grew wide. Did I hear her right?
"He kissed you on the cheek?" I asked.
Alyson nodded. "He was so nice to me and the moment was perfect, but why didn't he kiss me on the lips?"
