Coming Home

Three days later, James was coming home with some stitches in his side, a cast on his leg and a couple broken ribs. He was incredibly lucky to be alive much less able to go home so quickly.

Nora was overjoyed. James was okay and she was getting to go home. To her home. The one on the hill with a kick ass view of the mountains. And Matt was coming with her.

Nadine had picked them up from the hospital and drove them home. Nora couldn't contain her excitement coming up the driveway.

"Oh my god I'm so glad to be home." She sighed.

A few minutes later she said her goodbyes to her mom then she and Matt went inside. Nora threw her bag down and plopped down on the couch. Matt came with her.

"You have an awesome piece of land here." Matt said.

"Yeah it was my uncle's house and land until he got married and had to move somewhere bigger. I'm his favorite so he gave it to me." Nora laughed.

Suddenly Matt got a familiar look in his eye.

"Why don't we check out the bedroom?" He said with a smirk.

Nora saw what he was getting at and she was more than ready.

Later that evening they were sitting on the front porch having a couple beers and talking. Nora had went to visit with James earlier and let him meet Matt. She was ecstatic knowing that James was okay and he approved of Matt.

Nora and Matt were laughing and enjoying each other's company when she saw headlights coming up the driveway.

"Who's that?" Matt asked.

"I'm not sure." Nora lied. She could recognize that black SUV a mile away.

It was Scott.

"Fuck. What the hell am I supposed to do with him?" Nora thought.

Before she could think of anything he was already parked. Nora sat frozen as Scott got out of the car and walked up to the front steps.

"Hey Nora," Scott said with a grin. "How's it going?"

Scott's face fell when he saw Matt sitting there.

"Oh who's this?" Scott asked as he walked up on the porch.

Matt gave Nora a confused look, he must have sensed the tension.

"This is Matt, my boyfriend." Nora answered, trying not to smile.

Scott's eyes went from Nora over to Matt and back.

"Hey nice to meet you, I'm Matt Sanders." Matt said as he stood up to shake hands with Scott.

"I'm Scott, Nora's-" Scott trailed off. "Wait a minute, are you M Shadows?" Scott's eyes got wide.

Matt laughed nervously.

"Yeah, he is." Nora said flatly. "What's up?" She was getting irritated.

"Oh nothing really, just heard you were back in town. I'll come back when you're not busy." Scott said as he awkwardly backed away toward his car.

Nora didn't say a word. Matt was dumbfounded. Finally after Scott was driving away Matt said "What the fuck was that?"

Nora sighed. "My ex."

"Wait, back up." Matt said. "I'm your boyfriend?"

"Um, you're the one that said you were in love with me." Nora said grinning.

Matt hesitated for a moment. "What if I am?"

"That's probably a good thing because I'm in love with you too." It felt like someone else said those words.

"So does that mean I am your boyfriend?" Matt asked as he ran his fingers up Nora's arm.

"Do you wanna be?" Nora asked him in return.

Matt leaned in close. "I love you Nora. I can't think of anything that would make me happier."

"I love you too Matt."

Matt walked over in front of Nora's chair and knelt down, putting his hands on her thighs. He looked up at her and she felt a wave of heat go through her. She couldn't help but lean over and kiss him.

"Aren't you gonna ask why Scott came up here?" Nora said.

Matt looked her dead in the eye. "Fuck him."
