Chapter 6- Haha, Rufius! Happy Birthday Opren?
The time passed during training and resting, and getting to know Emerald even better from the few in depth and lengthy talks they shared; and the day finally arrived when Opren would combat Rufius again, along with the day he would be another year older, making him a legal man. He awoke early that morning, exercising and stretching to warm up his muscles in advance for the fight that was to take place later. He then grabbed a fruit and protein filled breakfast to give him plenty of energy for the day. Following this, he made his way to the large willow tree to meet Emerald.
"Oluu, Laleiy", she greeted with a sweet smile. She was braiding willow vines together again as Opren approached. He noticed she wore a simple yet pretty dress and had curls in her hair today, which was very unusual since she normally tried not to dress in fancy clothing or bring attention to herself, as she received too much attention for her own liking- even in rags. He opened his mouth slightly, about to speak, but she answered him before the question came out. "I decided to dress up for you for your birthday. Remember it is your birthday, so don't get hurt too badly today, please. So what do you think?" Gesturing to her dress, she grinned again.
"Am I allowed to be honest?" Opren smiled, halfway smirking out of amusement at his own subtle joke. She rolled her eyes and nodded, giving him a look that seemed to mean 'just answer the question', but smiled at him. "You look stunningly velluusa, Liileiy, more than I could ask for. Thanks for doing that, but you really were plenty beautiful before complementing it. Now you might just distract me during the fight." He laughed.
"Right. But it might also give you an extra incentive not to get yourself incapacitated before tonight," Emerald said, seeming to suggest something beyond friendly in her eyes.
"Stop that," Opren said, trying to dismiss any of the suggested thoughts from his mind for the time being so he could remain focused and alert for the coming fight.
Yeah. He might get too excited and drop his sword in his fight... or rather throw it up too high, if you catch what I mean, Barbosa said with a laugh, approaching silently from diagonally behind Opren. Opren turned to shoot him a purposed look of aggression.
The three discussed the plans for the day, mostly involving Emerald forcing him to somehow at least somewhat relax physically until his fight- whether he tried to argue or not. The fight would take place after their 'relaxing'- annoyingly stilled is more accurate- time together. Following this would be a very large dinner with Athena, Rutundo, Rufius, Pole, Vallot and a few others on the mountain, right after a short recovery time for Rufius and Opren. Everyone on Rhahkmant'e was to be invited to view the fight, if they weren't already aware, and were to be invited to enjoy a large feast and celebration to follow the personal small dinner gathering for Opren. Most had been aware of the planned celebrations for the past couple of days, as Athena had helped Opren and Emerald plan the events.
The three went to find Pole and retrieve Raz'e so they would all be together for the day to come. They found Pole in a bar with all women bartenders, shocking none of them.
"Hey, Miss Emerald, you look quite... never mind," Pole ended his statement quickly as Emerald gave him a look of suggested potential infliction of pain. "How do you like the environment here, Opren?"
"What's the point, Pole?" Opren replied. "For me, anyway, I have the most beautiful lady on Rhahkmant'e to spend time with; so a bar of women isn't nearly as nice."
"Well, some of us take what we can get in that department. When I can find me a nice elf or other lady like ya have yourself, I will be happy to stay away from places like this, while in my own bedroom." Pole said with a short laugh.
