Jack walked by Mark's side as they made their way to Mark's house. As they walked, Mark was grew more and more comfortable. It felt like some of the tension had been taken off now. Since Mark's was relaxed, this allowed him to be curious.

They were nearly to Mark's house when he finally posed the question. "Soo... Am I allowed to ask how this happen or do you not want to talk about?" He tried to ask, nonchalantly. Jack was silent for a moment, he knew exactly what Mark was referring to without Mark explicitly stating what it was he was trying to talk about. However, Jack decided that Mark deserved an explanation "My dad never mentioned anything to my mother...And out of all five children...Two of us gained the vampire gene...Myself and my oldest sister. But for those born a vampire, signs of what they are don't come through until they're 16. By the time they found out about my sister I was six. When I first found out...It was my birthday and my youngest sister had cut her hand...The moment I saw the blood it was like nothing I had ever known; I couldn't look away. My eldest sister helped me...She tried to teach to control myself and act human, it works most of the time. Until I leave it too long... I should really drink blood at least once a day. But I tend to try and leave it as long as possible. Mainly because I don't want anyone finding out..." Jack paused for a moment letting out a sigh "That's what happened today. I had left myself for three days...I... As soon as I caught hold of your scent... I lost it...By the time I knew what I was doing...You had already got hurt." Mark listened intently and quietly as Jack told his story, nodding every once in a while, to show that he acknowledged what was being said. When Jack finished, Mark sighed. "Ah. . . Wow. That's- Heh. That's a lot to take in..." He chewed a little at his bottom lip, doing his best to process all this. Finally, he found his next the words for his next question. "Why did you wait so long, Jack?" Jack let out a sigh "I try not to make it obvious...If I were to leave my house every-night or if I were to leave the hotel every night while we're at conventions. It would become a little obvious that something wasn't right. All it takes is that one curious person to follow me and boom. People are out to kill me because they think I'm evil."

"Mm.... True." Mark frowned. His brow furrowed as he continued to think this through. "Can you only drink human blood? Does it have to be... from someone? Or could it be in a container?" Jack shrugged "It does have to be human. I could find a rabbit or a deer or something but it doesn't make you feel full like human blood." He paused for a moment "For example, say I gave you nothing but bread to live on. It would keep you healthy and strong but you would never be fully satisfied and would probably become hungry again pretty quickly. As for if I had to drink straight from the person no...If they had had their blood taken I could drink it from the blood bag or if someone slot their wrist and drained it into a glass I could drink that. But it tends to be easier and a lot less painful for the person when a vampire drinks straight from them." Mark was surprised and his thoughts blurted out before he had time to process exactly what he was saying "Really!? It's less painful?" Mark tilted his head at Jack, looking both surprise and confused. Jack nodded "It sounds stupid but a vampires bit doesn't actually hurt. It's kinda hard to explain but it's actually a pleasurable feeling. Whereas if you were to say cut into yourself then that would hurt if you hadn't numbed the area which you planned to cut beforehand."

"Ohh.." Mark grew quiet, mulling this over in his mind. He wanted to trust Jack so he was going to trust that what Jack said was true. No matter how bizarre it sounded. "Okay. One last question. Beside your family who else knows about this? About you?" Jack rubbed the back of his neck as he replied "No one. I avoid telling people...I avoided telling you for as long as I could. However, I kinda but myself in a position where I had t' tell ya." Jack inhaled deeply letting out a sigh. He wasn't used to talking about this and he was a little worried that Mark wouldn't want to be his friend anymore. "Should have just gone with my pizza offer when you had the chance. Jackaboy." Mark chuckled, teasing his friend. However, the man quickly noticed that Jack looked uncomfortable and worried. Trying to make eye contact Jack, Mark gave a small reassuring smile. "Hey. Don't worry about it. Now that I know... I don't know. Maybe I can help you? At least while you're in town." Jack's gaze fell on Mark "H-Help me?" Jack was surprised at Mark's words but he quickly shook his head "N-No...I mean thanks for the offer but...I-I don't want you to feel like this is something that you have to do." "Jack..." Mark sighed, rolling his eyes. He was still smiling. "...I'm not offering because it's some noble cause. Pfft! It's just you need help and I'm here for you if you need it." He nudged the other playfully in the side "It's what friends do, you goof!" Jack chuckled a little "I understand that...But I wouldn't want to make you uncomfortable." Mark shrugged maintain a soft smirk as he said "Eehh, I'll get over it. Everything is weird at first, right?" Jack nodded a little "I suppose." Jack smiled at Mark, it made him feel a little better to know that despite everything his friend was still by his side. Mark smiled more when Jack smiled, relieved to see him in a little higher spirits. Everything maybe weird at first but Mark was pretty sure he would never get used to seeing Jack down. They turn the corner and Mark led them up the path to his house.
