Maia was the first wife of Stannis Baratheon and was Olenna Tyrell's youngest child. The Tyrells made an alliance with the Baratheons by offering Maia's hand in marriage to them. Since Robert was already betrothed, Stannis took the offer. Maia ended up being one of the only people to ever make Stannis smile. When she was pregnant with their second child, she fell into a fever and started labor only seven months into her pregnancy. She gave birth to a small stillborn son. Maia died only minutes later. Talia was seven.
