Walking upstairs I wasn't really focusing on anything, I was trying to recall what I could of that night but it came in members of Godric's coven drifted past me after giving me a respectful nod. The triage room was at the end of the long hallway at the top of Godric's house; there were other smaller hospital rooms and a few empty storage rooms, but the triage room was must like a nurse's office at any high school. I went to the cabinet that Godric and found what he was talking about, the third shelf was packed full with Wiccan herbs and salt and candles, basically anything a witch would need to do a spell, well really anyone who knew all the traditions could do a spell, hence the reason I intended to at least try. It had been a while since I'd attempted magic or any sort; least of all memory smoke. It wasn't too complicated but it was complex enough for me to need to retrieve the spellbook that I had owed for countless years. I took my spell book, sage, rosemary and wolf's bane, along with a salt canister and 5 of the black candles that were lead in a box on the next shelf down. I gathered everything and went outside on the front lawn, it was still dark out and this seemed to be the only place where Godric's clan wasn't swarming and whispering. I set everything down by the stone step outside the front door. I pulled my lighter out my jacket pocket and put it down next to the candles, I shrugged my jacket off and sighed calmly.
The grass was a bright green under my feet. I examined it as I walked over it trying to find the best place to draw the pentagram; finding a clear level area I grabbed the salt canister and poured the salt out in the shape of it so it landed in straight lines crossing at the right points to make the five-pointed star and then I drew a salt circle around the outside of the star in salt. I made sure the inside was big enough for me to sit cross-legged with the spellbook in front of me and then closed the salt, impressed with my salt-drawing skill. Next, I picked up the candles and my lighter; I walked around the outside of the star placing the candles on each point of the star, I lit them one by one and then threw the lighter towards the house, it landed silently on my jacket. I picked up the spell book and the three herbs I had picked out and placed them all into the centre of the pentagram. Remembering I needed two more things I ran back into the house, just as I got to the kitchen Godric appearing holding the very things I needed: a black pestle and mortar and a black bowl, both were made of marble, he handed them over to me smiling, worriedly.
"Why do you look so worried about me... you know I've done this before; you've done this with me" his face didn't change for a minute and then he spoke
"I'm worried because I've never seen you recall that day. But I have heard a witch tell you not to use this spell to recall it" I sighed knowing he was right
"I need to do this Godric" he took one of my hands
"fine. Then I will watch you too make sure you're okay... and if you're in trouble I'll dream-walk and pull you out" I nodded and then turned and we both walked through the front door to the front lawn.I picked up the herbs as I walked over the step, Godric grabbed the spell book and carried it over to the pentagram, walking behind me quietly. He was watching me carefully, watching how I walked and spoke, he was analysing me, as much as it was touching it was equally as annoying to have my husband watching me, well, exists. I stepped inside the centre of the salt-star and sat crossed legged, I ground up the herbs with the pestle and mortar, then poured the mix of, almost, powered leaves into the black bowl that Godric had handed me. Godric passed me the spell book and then sat outside the circle facing me, our eyes locked as I opened the book to the correct page.
The old language written inside was only just legible, it was so old few could read it, I was one of the few that could. And though I could read it there was not a correct way to speak it in the original language so I decided to speak it out in English, simply for the fact it would be easier. I took a deep breath as Godric passed me, my lighter. I placed the book down in front of me.
