Sunday, January 23, 2020My dad, sister, and I were all at the University of NASA for my 17th birthday in 2020. I had been pleading my dad for months in advance to take me to the university. I wanted to see the new invention they had broadcasted on the news a while back.
As we walked into the giant room where the invention was, I couldn't stop the impulses of excitement that raced through my body. Once everyone was inside they closed the doors behind so no other visitors could see what was about to be revealed. All of a sudden a loud deep voice came bursting through the speakers from up above.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please quiet down as someone will soon be introducing our new invention."
Not even a minute went by and any conversations that were being said throughout the room were extinguished by the sound of a loud drum roll. Then a young man came out onto the stage area. Though, his voice sounded different compared to the one that had come over the speakers a few minutes ago.
He then said, "Thank you so much for your patience, and I am so happy to see all of these interested citizens today. Now behind this curtain stands a machine that has always seemed impossible for mankind, but today we will defeat that statement! So I give you.... Time Warp!"
The room rung out with loud applauds, as we were all amazed by the revealing. And as I stood there I thought about how I had always dreamed of taking the cure for Melanoma that they had just discovered. Then take the cure into the past and save my mom's life and many other lives.
About another hour went by and the man was finally done talking about the time machine. As we all got out of the stage room, it felt refreshing to get away from all of those people. Then as my dad, sister, and I walked throughout the university. It almost seemed as if my dad wanted to say something, but yet didn't. Then he finally came out with it, "So.... did you like the revealing?"
The tone in his voice was very curious. Like he could already tell what I wanted to do with the time machine.
Then in a half excited voice I said, "Yeah it was really neat! It would be pretty cool to go to the future and see what you would look like." So with a light smile upon my face we kept walking.
It was about nine o'clock when we finally got home, and shortly after we got home my sister headed back to her house. So I went up to my room and sat on my bed. I had already thought of a plan, I was going to go to school tomorrow and go back to the university where the time machine was and go to the past. As I stared at my fish tank on the other side of my room I thought. Do I really want to do this?
