A smile tugged at the corner of J's lips as he looked the girl up and down.
Her wavy purple-silver hair masked her features and a black, oversized hoodie hung heavily off her left shoulder.
Continuing down, his eyes were greeted by her Criss crossed legs clad in leggings and Ugg boots that came up to her knees.
Typical white girl, should be easy enough. Finally, after finding an easy target, J sauntered over, his cotton candy pink hair swiftly pushed out of his eyes and into a bun.
As he slowly approached, the targets head hesitantly looked up.J slowly raised his eyebrows in happy surprise as he took in her exotic features.
Her shoulder length hair was pushed back by a slender hand, exposing her full, shaped brows and her eyes.
Brown and blue orbs stared up at him curiously as he got closer, and her button nose twitched as she pushed her thick glasses higher.
As J got closer he noticed small freckles decorating her nose, and she had a hidden sharp jawline that could probably give paper cuts.
"Hey, I'm sorry to interrupt but I'm here to do some surveys," J said smoothly.
His words were precise, even, and soothing, showing no signs of ill will or lies.
Curiousity lit up her mismatched eyes, and she took in his outfit slowly. She lifted an eyebrow in response to his outfit, but replied anyways.Huh.. pretty brave for a girl that's dressed like a walking stereotype.
"Uh... Sure, I guess. What's it about, though?" She was soft spoken, but her voice held a strong undertone that convinced J that he'd have to be careful while coercing her.
Hesitantly taking a seat, J hung out his tatooed arm as a warm gesture. "First things first, before we get into it, what's your name?"
"Uh... the name's Dani," she said.
Her small hand briefly met his, and an electric shock ran through the two.Staring at each other in shock, she pulled her hand back fast, J shook his lightly, deeply chuckling.
"Maybe we should just get to the point, Dani. My names Josh, but everyone just called me J."
Her body settled after hearing this, and she noticeably relaxed in her seat.
"So... J. What's this survey on?"
"You of course," Josh said smoothly.
'This line always works,' J thought laughing to himself.
"Oh, I see, what do you need to know?"Her cheeks blossomed, a feature that was difficult to see in the cafe's dim light. She tried to play off the line, but her face was like a children's book, extremely easy to read.
"Well, it's pretty simple really, this survey requires your full name, cell number and your review of your drink and rating of this Starbucks chain... It should only take a couple of minutes, think you can handle it?"
His words ended on a playful tone, and his full lips pulled into a signature smirk that always seemed to work on the girls.
"U..Uh, okay I see. Sure, no problem," Dani said stuttering slightly.
After Dani's slight mood change, J quickly slid over from his chair to the booth side and sat so that their thighs were touching.
"Okay gorgeou- Oh, Uh, sorry," J said awkwardly scratching his head.
This trick never ceased to work.
"Um... Sorry, I've always been an open book," J said turning his face to smile at his target.
Dani, not knowing how to respond, just nodded shyly and waited for him to continue explaining.
But after staring at the survey for a good minute, Dani could still feel J staring at her. Moving her head slightly, she sat back a little, looking curiously up at the boy.
"Are we going to continue with the survey, J?"
The way she said his name made his heart flutter a little...
Normally by now I should just kiss her, reach into her pocket, and leave, but...This girl was something different.
This girl made Josh want to stay.
Boyishly grinning, J nodded and looked back down at the survey.
"Mhm, so just sign all your details, and don't forget the cellphone number, 'Kay?" J added hastily.
"Sure," Dani laughed.
Inching closer, J popped his elbow on the table and set his hand in his palm, and just watched her.
Her laugh was cute.
He wanted to hear it more.A small bump covered her middle finger.
Huh... A writers bump. Don't see them very often now.
Her writing was fast, messy and cursive. It reminded him of his mothers writing.
Suddenly, J was spacing out, bad memories flooded his head, and suddenly he wasn't there anymore. He felt as if he were sinking into some sort of dark abyss, and there was no way out. But suddenly, a voice was calling him back into the present.
"J... Josh? Um... Survey dude with the cool hair?"
A cool hand was softly pressed to J's head pulling him swiftly from his thoughts. After a quick shake, he was back to the present.
"You think I have cool hair?" he said, raising his eyebrows and moving closer to Dani.
"Um yeah? I also think you have a huge ego, if we're just putting facts out there," she said sassily, raising an eyebrow in response.
Pulling back sharply, J gasped jokingly,
"OMG! How could you Dani?! After everything we've been through?" He smoothly moved her soft hand from her lap and into his hands, they basically engulfed her small ones.Jerking her head back, her light laughter filled the air.
Now we're getting somewhere.
"Yeah, well while you were day dreaming about Donald Trump becoming president or whatever, I finished your survey!" She announced proudly, sticking her chest out a little.
Trying his mouth in a straight line, he answered by patting her head.
"Thanks love, I really mean it."
Without giving her anytime to answer,
J swiftly wrapped his tattooed arm around her neck and pulled her in for a hug and a quick kiss on the cheek. While doing so, he pushed his hand into her back pocket and touched something cold and plastic.Perfect.
Without waiting for her reaction, Josh quickly took in her entrancing appearance before winking and leaving the table.
"Thanks Dani, your survey has been the best one yet!"
A quick wave and he was gone. The smell of arrogance and Calvin Klein cologne hung in the air after he left.
