Percy had enough. He was sick an tired of being treated like trash. He didn't like his mother, nor his father. They abused him, mentally and physically. So, what do you do when you don't like your parents?
You run.
Far, far away. Where they can't catch you.
So that's exactly what Percy did.
Right this very instant, the boy was fighting against a giant hell hound. He was only the age of 13, so he wasn't experienced. After the hound opening an old wound, he 'killed' it. He treated his wound, and started jogging to some random city. Just half a mile later, he heard a scream. He whipped his head towards the noise, and after one more scream, he ran towards the source of noise.
He was surprised to find the tail of the Chimera (he learned after a few monster attacks, and a couple run in's with demi-gods, that the Greek Gods and monsters were real.) squeezing the life of a poor boy, who was possibly only 9. He threw his knife square in the center of the Chimera, and it hissed, turning it's head towards him. He continued throwing his knives, some square in the mouth, some by his body, and after one blow through the snakes head, the Chimera turned to dust. The other boy gaped at Percy, and rushed towards him. Percy had almost no time to react as the boy hugged him fiercely, saying 'thank you' over and over again. Percy reluctantly hugged back. When they pulled apart, Percy said, "Hey, kiddo. I'm Percy. What's your name?" "I won't tell you." was the other boy's reply. Percy huffed, and then said, "All right. Why are you here?" The other boy looked down. "My... my moth- mother.. she... di- died.... I didn't mean to kill her! I'm sorry!" the boy finished quickly. Percy frowned. He killed her? But he said he didn't mean to. Was he possessed? On drugs? Probably the first.
Percy stroked the little kid's hair softly. "Shh, you're all right. I won't harm you. If you're mother... perished, how about we get you a new family?" he asked. "A.. a new family?" the little boy's eyes lit up. "With who!?" Percy smiled slightly. "Me."
The little boy hugged Percy again. After breaking up, he told the boy to sit. Percy then told him all about Mythology. Surprisingly, he didn't make an outburst.
"Now, that's done. Remember I told you about the Hunters Of Artemis? Want to make our own little group? Just the two of us?" Percy asked. The boy nodded.

After spending a lot of money on bows, tents, and other materials, they set up the camp someplace in Minnesota. (A.N. HI PEOPLE FROM MINNESOTA!!!) Then, for the next two hours, Percy taught the boy how to shoot a bow, wield a spear, and use a sword. After the boy got the main strategies, they sat down by the fire.
"Now will you tell me your name?" Percy asked.
"Leo," he replied, "Leo Valdez."
