She stared out the window that lay beside her, watching the trees sway in the wind. Birds flew back and forth carrying twigs to their new home that would one day house little ones. As she began to day dream, Mido jumped up onto the window sill. He began to chirp at the hope-to-be prey. He pounced towards the bird only to slam his face into the window.

"Silly Mido," she told him,"There's a window there." She wondered if maybe, just maybe, Mido saw someone. She hoped it was Peter Schweiger, her neighbor. She sighed in disappointment as she looked out the window only to see a man but not Peter. So, she walked back to her bed and sat back down to wait again.

     .....…………..................................................................................

Peter was the only person left from her rural childhood. They spent countless hours together. She would go to him almost everyday until senior year of high school, then the time together began to almost stop. At first, she believed he was seeing someone. She asked him about it, but he just shrugged and changed the subject. She could not just take a shrug for an answer, so she did some detective work only to find out that his mother had passed away. She wanted to be there for him just like he was for her, but him finding out that she went behind his back to find out what was wrong would ruin their relationship. She decided to put his problems behind her. She just continued to love him with all her heart.

Mido began to chirp and bump his head on the glass pane. "What is it now, Mido? Another bird? Or how about a rabbit?" Abigail asked Mido as she began to walk towards the window. She gasped at what she saw. Peter was walking passed her apartment building. She quickly put her shoes on and ran down the stairs.

"Peter," she slightly yelled down the slowly decaying sidewalk. "Where are you headed to?"

"I have to meet my new officers?" he replied.

"I thought you were staying here in Poland?" she said almost about to cry.

"Yes, but my father was in the Kriegsmarine during the previous world war. I decided to follow in similar footsteps and join the Wehrmach."

"Promise me one thing?" she asked.

"Anything!"

"Stay alive and ein platz im herzen für alle ewigkeit!" she whispered into his ear as she gave him a farewell hug and kiss.

"I will and Ich werde einen löwenzahn nach hause bringen, so dass alle ihre wünsche wahr werden," he whispered back.
