"There are people over there," Naomi told Aidan. She spotted three men were running out from the fort and the ghost army was following them. "I only spot one soldier and the rest are civilians."
Aidan nodded before shouting an order. "Ready to attack! Infantry one to five, go forth!" He watched as his soldiers were marching to fight while Naomi was gone to prepare the next attack. She will lead a few infantries when Aidan command her to attack. It's only a matter of time until Aidan himself joined the battle too. He needed to set a new strategy as soon as possible because his original strategy was useless now due to his late arrival at the fort.
"You are late!" Keichi shouted as he stopped by the younger man's horse at the city edge while his companions were kept running towards the city. The dead soldiers who were after him were now in a battle with the Crimson Army in a middle of a vast terrain between the city and the fort. Aidan dismounted from his horse and talked to Keichi whom he knew as Kei, his informant. "The blizzard had hampered us but let's put that aside, I want to know how could there was no one on the fort!"
"Hill has betrayed us. He sold information about the kingdom and let them enter the fort."
"That bastard! Where is he now?"
"My man took him to Roselake to imprison him."
"Tch... You should have just killed him, Kei."
"I can't. The Queen has ordered me to bring him alive but let's put that aside." He copied Aidan. "How many fire magicians among your soldiers?"
He wanted to ask about how the Queen can order a mere information broker like him but he let the subject dropped. They could discuss it later. "Approximately two thousand. Why do you ask?"
"Good. I want you to gather all of them and burn those dead people before they reach the city. Now."
"I come to hold this city, not to burn them."
"Arrows!" A shout from the battlefield made their conversation came to its end.
Keichi could see there was few line of archers in front of the fort's gate. They kept releasing arrow by arrow, raining the Crimson Army with it. Many of them died after hit by the first arrow but some could still walk until the second and the third arrow pierced their body. The same arrow was also hit the ghost soldiers but it left no effect on them. Thus, had led the Crimson Army to retreat and made the Cerulean soldiers were entering the city.
"Those archers are human like us," Keichi informed Aidan.
"Tch! Cerulean bastard." Aidan cursed. "I want those who has wind magic to blow away the arrows! Move now!"
The first attempt to blow away the arrow was successfully held. Crimson Army infantries who led by Naomi arrived safely in the middle of the battlefield. They combined their forces and managed to suppress the walking dead to the edge of the city.
"We can't let these dead people take down this town!" Aidan shouted as he was also joining the battle.
Another rain of arrows came again but the wind magician blew it away before it reached any Crimson soldier's body. It seemed that the Cerulean archers were already moving forward to the middle of the vast terrain behind thousands of dead soldiers. The battle moved into the city when the next rain of arrows poured down. Knowing that it will be blown away by the wind magician, they had sent fire arrows. The wind magicians who were late to cancel their magic could only watch as the arrows were burning everything it touched. One thing had come to their mind. This battle was far more gruesome than their previous battle against the same enemy.
