"I don't love you..."

Four words that made my whole world upside down.

Four words that made me feel pathetic...a loser even.

Four words she uttered that I never expected her to say to me because I truly loved her.

Was it me?

Did I do something to deserve this?

These are the questions that still haunt me to this very day. Maybe I'm being too melodramatic for a guy my age but still, when you confess your devotion and your love for that girl you think is good enough to be your wife, it hurts like being clubbed by a base ball bat.

It was supposed to be a very great day because I planned it really well. I have the pinkish diamond ring that I bought with half of the money in my savings account, I even bought a very expensive suit for the evening and bought her flowers—roses.

I even had my speech prepared but the second I opened my mouth, she cut me off.

She looked at me with sad eyes. It was something she'd done very often a few weeks before I even decided to propose. I felt like she's trying to say good bye. "I think we should see other people."

I looked at her incredulously. She looked at me and but her bottom lip. "Why?" I asked her point blank and little loud which prompted everyone in the restaurant to look at our booth.

She looked at me straight in the eyes and uttered the words the shattered my whole world built in a very delicate glass wall.

"I don't love you..."

"I'm so sorry, Nathan."
