Chapter 1
Kayson Miller looked in her small bathroom mirror just once more before walking downstairs to face her twin brother and parents.
"Are you still eating?" Kayson asked, rolling her eyes at Karson, her twin brother.
"Are you ever going to eat?" Karson replied, grabbing another peice of crispy bacon.
Kayson rolled her eyes at her brother, but otherwise ignored him. "So, what's the name of this school?" She turned to face her mother.
Her mother, Jessica Miller, smiled sweety. She knew how hard it was for her children; moving school to schools every few months."This school is called Remington High. Go to the office first to pick up your class schedule."
Kayson sighed. "Okay. Let's go, Karson. I do not want to be late.Bye," she waved at her parents, grabbing Karson by the arm and dragging him out of the front door.
"What's the rush?" Karson demanded.
"We have to get our schedules. And being late on the first day looks tacky," she stated, closing the car door.
"You are such a freak. If you so much as even try to ruin my life in this town, don't forget, I can ruin your life too," Karson laughed, backing his car out of the drive way.
"Oh dear brother, ruin my life, what do you mean?" Kayson laughed at the sarcasm in her voice.
"You know what I mean. I start to get the least bit popular, and you go and ruin it. With being a know it all," Karson eyed her feircely. "Just remember, being the sister of a jock who knows nothing can ruin a brainiac's social status too."
"Oh no!" She exagerated. "My social status. On the first day. What will I do?"
"Just remember, if I ruin it the first day, you won't be able to build one," Karson grinned an evil grin, putting the car in park in the empty school parking lot.
"Just don't talk to me and we will be fine. Agreed?" Kayson asked, stepping out of the car.
"Agreed."
Kayson walked into the doors labeled school office. "Hello?"
A short lady with blonde hair in a tight bun stepped out from behind the counter. "Hello," she held out her hand. "You must be Kayson," she looked around. "Isn't there supposed to be a twin brother with you?" She asked.
"Yes. That would be Karson. Can I have my schedule please?" Kayson was getting impatient.
Mrs.Gray smiled at her. "Of course. Have a good day. If you need anything, just ask."
Kayson walked to her locker, suddenly conscious of everyone staring at her. What is the big deal? She asked herself. Calm down Kayson. You've done this more than a dozen times, she thought to herself.
"Thanks for waiting for me," Karson said scaring his sister and making her drop everything in her hands.
"And thanks for making me drop everything," Kayson muttered, bending down to pick everything up.
"Okay, I have trigonemetry first period. What do you have?"
Kayson opened her locker. "Well I have advanced calculus. Where is you locker?" She hoped it wasn't near hers.
"I have locker 187," Karson shrugged. "And you have 176." He added. Suddenly Karson looked down the hall. "I'm hungry. I'm gonna go find the breakfast room." He walked away leaving his sister standing in the hallway alone.
Kayson turned, about to walk to Calculus when she bumped into someone. Dropping everything in her hands for the second time in five minutes. Kayson looked up and froze. He was gorgeous; black hair and bright, peircing green eyes.
"Sorry," the stranger said, bending down to pick up the folder and notebook on the ground. "You're new ,right? I'm Mason," he handed Kayson her stuff.
"Is it that obvious?" Kayson asked. "That I'm new, I mean."
Mason laughed. "Well, no. It is a small school," he smiled. "And I would have remembered a face like yours."
"Uhh, thanks. But I have to go Maybe we'll talk later," Kayson turned and very nearly ran to class.
How many girl had he used that line on? How many of them had fell for it? Kayson was still questioning herself when she heard a bell ring telling her to go to class. Kayson walked into class, hoping to remain unoticed and was glad when the teacher only nodded at her. Kayson took her seat silently, feeling the eyes of her classmates on her back as she walked. Kayson looked up to the teacher and silently cursed herself.
"Is it later?" Mason asked, turning to face her, a full grin on his face.
